@rkb20924 жыл бұрын
Actually the Beatles did NOT say that. George Harrison suggested to John Bonham that they needed a ballad. Jimmy Page wrote the first two chords of the Rain Song as a tribute to George's song "Something". Next time you hear Rain Song, sing "Something in the way she moves..." when it starts. That's the real story.

Most rock bands do a ballad....and its like, “M’kay.....can you play something less shitty?” This band does a ballad and , “Woah. Face melt.” So somber. So relatable. Just incredible. The vocal and the guitar are telling the same story, like they’re competing with one another. Unreal.

I'm 56 years old and at the age of 6 for the first time I listened to a Led Zeppelin song coming out of my older brother's vinyl. I was shocked!! 50 years have passed and since then I have been waiting unnecessarily for a group of this level to arrive. Of this fabulous piece that I will have listened to thousands of times, I recommend listening to the original of the vinyl and not the live, with the rustle of the stylus spinning on the record! Every time I feel it I get chills and I get moved. For me this is the best song that has ever been written, the best of all time. These 4 artists had no and will never have rivals, their brains and their talents were too far ahead, in 1970 they wrote, composed, played and sang at a level that is still impossible to find in a band today. Thank you for making us listen. Hello from Italy.

This clip is from their concert film, _The Song Remains the Same,_ which chronicled three shows they did at Madison Square Garden in 1973, and was released in '75. I remember going to see it multiple times. Incredible film. Imagine this on a thirty-foot wide screen. If you love Zep, you cannot miss that movie. Kick back sometime and watch the whole thing. It's the one chance you'll have to see an actual Led Zeppelin concert, presented with the best film techniques of the time. Two and a half hours, all of it incredible. (It includes a 26-minute version of "Dazed and Confused", and 15 minutes of Bonzo's solo drumming on "Moby Dick", plus four fantasy sequences, one for each band member.) You won't regret it. :)

@@anthonykargoglou7205 Interesting. I would not describe Plant's voice on this as "weak" in any way. There are many, many frontmen who would give their right nuts to sound that "weak." He has certainly sounded cleaner in other versions, but the grit and power--the willingness to force his voice past the breaking point to add soul to the sound--is one of my favorite aspects of his singing. Plus, you never know, or knew, what you were going to get out of him in any particular gig, especially from '73 on. Same for Page, actually. It's Bonham and JPJ that were the backbone of all of it.

Jamal, I have a very unique song for you to listen and react to. The band is called the Average White Band and they are from Glasgow, Scotland, UK. They were the R&B, Soul music geek Scotts but when they came out and had the major debut in the States, many black radio stations played their song. And they came to the States for their first tour, my friend was there and he told me that about 75 to 80% of the audience were the brothers and sistas. When there are some hillbilly looking white boys came out on stage, almost all audience thought as they are the roadies, came out on stage for tuning the instruments. Everybody thought as the band is the British brothers. But soon as the tuning has completed, those white boys started to play and sing. First, the audience was liked stunned, but a second later, everybody has gone crazy because they were the band. A real deal R&B music but played by the Scottish white boys. Sadly, the leader of the band and the drummer passed away with heroin overdose and then after, the black drummer was brought in. But this drummer was from England, too. They were so good and mostly lip-sync Soul Train show's producer let them play live in the studio. This is one of they early hit "Cut The Cake" and it's live. I thought as listen and reacting to such unique band might be a big fun for you as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mITUamZ-qNNjeMk

August 1980 over here. 😁 I always think of my mom when I hear zeplin. I grew up to my mom listening to zeplin, full volume while we cleaned the house. If she wasn't playing a zeplin vinyl, she'd be playing and singing their songs on her guitar. My warmest childhood memories of my mom. Last Christmas she gave me the guitar she used to play zeplin for us on. Like zeplin, she is a legend and still gets down at 63yo.

Attention comment readers: You are in the immortal presence of the elder rock gods! Bow and pay homage to them before your weak and shaking knees give way and force you to! Hear this and know that all that you worshiped before are mere false idols, pretenders, impostors, and heretics! May Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones find your newfound humility and praise worthy in order to have mercy on you, and grace you will their musical greatness! May the music you hear seep into your soul, and fill you with a newfound purpose, and a rejection of the pop crap that is worshiped today. Now rise, and go forth to preach the gospel that pours from the eternal spring of greatness that is Led Zeppelin, and may you learn to appreciate it for the rest of your days! :D

And I thought I was the only one swimming in the deep end of the pool with no life guard on duty too! Led Zep deserves all the accolades like yours. I tell young folk nowadays that I might be old but I had the BEST music !

I had the honor of seeing these guy's at the Forum in 77, one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I saw them in seattle, in 77. They were an experience that you just can't describe. The crowd is just hypnotized, also helped with what was being past around.

I'm glad you love this, I love this. This is from a movie called Song Remains the Same. You should just watch this whole movie dude the whole movie the whole movie the whole movie

For those of us that grew up on this movie these newer edited releases/versions just don't seem right when watching them. The only bonus to the later releases are the never released footage of the ocean and over the hills.

I saw Zeppelin live that year. I saw the film 4 times in a row on the day it was released in the cinema in 1976. I have lost count of how many times i have seen it since.
