That's a Gibson double neck guitar that Jimmy Page is playing! One neck is a 12 string and the other is a six! Notice Jimmy switches necks when he goes into his epic guitar solo!

@@dadwhatsfordinnerif you are still doing reactions, here’s a few live performances you should do. MSG (1973) Since I’ve Been Loving You, an amazing blues song. Live at Earls Court the May 25,1975 version of In My Time Of Dying, that’s the best visual & audio version, it will blow your mind. Live at Knebworth the K is silent (1979) Achilles Last Stand, & Kashmir, both are unbelievably amazing songs. Studio only slow amazing blues song, Tea For One. These guys put the passion into their music, & are above the rest especially live, 3 to 4 hours nonstop concerts. Thank you for your reactions.

Seen Led Zeppelin 2 times, once in 1977 on April 1, 1977 Toronto, at the Maple Leaf Gardens, then on October 17 , 1980 in Montreal, at the Montreal Forum, and my best friend bought tickets for Robert Plant's solo tour on June 10, 1985 at The Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, BC, Canada!! Led Zeppelin are truly amazing live and so sexy!! Robert Plant during his solo tour was amazing as well and just as sexy , like fine wine he ages so well! Had front row tickets to all 3 shows!! Going to see Robert on Wednesday Aug 14 at 7:00 PM at The Queen Elizabeth Theatre Vancouver, BC Can't wait!!! ❤️🥰🤘

The guitar is one 6 string on the bottom and a 12 string on top. He uses the 12 string one for a softer sweeter sound and the 6 string for a harder more powerful sound. Now you have to rewatch it to figure out when he changes! Enjoy!

It wasn't a recorder. JPJ used a keyboard instrument called a Mellotron to play those flute/recorder parts. It's the same instrument you hear playing the flute parts on Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles. The Mellotron is not a synthasizer however. Inside, it has a bank of 8 second tape recordings of various intruments for every key of the keyboard.
@darrencooke4207
@darrencooke4207 Жыл бұрын
@@tannonwraith4692 if you listen to John Paul Jones explaining how he recorded the studio version he explains that he played three types of recorders and blended the sound together at the mixing desk. Anyone can tell they are the real deal and not synthesized. As you say, in the live version when he plays the melotron, its a keyboard that can modulate sounds that are recorded into it. So its a keyboard playing the sounds of a recorder

In a way this is professionally mixed, they were filmed for 3 nights at MSG during this tour and in 1976 the edited version was released in theaters under the film title "The Song Remains the Same". It was a midnight film sensation in theaters for years and is available to stream or purchase on Blu-ray/DVD to this day, watch it!

Nice reaction, thanks. Jimmy Page was the only electric guitar player for Led Zeppelin (John Paul Jones played bass guitar and keys), thus played both lead and rhythm guitar. He was a genius in the studio but was able to layer in various guitar parts. When he played live, he sometimes had to use a double-neck (12 strings on top, 6 on bottom), often tuned differently, to get the sounds he wanted. If you want to see him really shred the guitar, watch their performance of Dazed and Confused from the same concert. Page's playing will blow you away, no doubt about it. But I first recommend listening to the studio version so you know what the song sounds like. Zeppelin loved to improvise during performances, so much so that at times it's difficult for anyone who isn't familiar with a song to know what they're hearing, and they did a great amount of improvisation during that performance of the song. It would be cool if you reacted to both studio then live like you did with Stairway to Heaven. Oh, and the reason they sounded as good live as they did during the studio cut is because there was no computer-generated anything, nor auto-tune, back then. When you listen to a studio version, that's just how they sounded. Anyway, hope to see more Zeppelin reactions, and thanks again!

When you realize that the equipment, they are using on a live stage 50 years ago would be considered pre-historic with what's available today, this performance reaches a new height of impressive! These are 4 master musicians and performers which is why the quality is so high. Jimmy Page (Guitarist) founded the band and wrote or co-wrote and produced all of the music. He is widely considered one of the best rock guitarists of all time, frequently landing in the top 5 of most lists, some say second only to Hendrix! Robert Plant was voted the 15th greatest vocalist in Rolling Stone's top 100 singers of all time. This is not an old list, it was updated 8/1/23 and there are several singers ahead of him on this list that are there in my opinion, because they were some of the greatest songwriters and not vocalists! John Paul Jones (Keys/recorder on this video) was the bass player and all piano and keys, but also was a muti instrumentalist. If you hear an instrument in one of their songs, and aren't sure who is playing, its likely him! He also arranged much of their music, especially beginning with the 4th album, and culminating with the final studio album *In Through the Outdoor* which credits him heavily! JPJ was the backbone of this band, the quiet one, often not mentioned, sometimes not seen, lost in the splendor of the spectacular drumming and the famous frontmen. I saved the late John Bonham for last, his death caused the end of the band, as they all decided he could not be replaced and thus, they would not go on! He is often mentioned as the best rock drummer, but certainly no matter what that list looks like, he is always on it, and near the very top! When VH-1 did their end of the 20th century, Top 100 Acts of all Time special, 1998, updated in 2010, LZ finished 3rd behind only The Beatles and Micheal Jackson.

The guitar Jimmy page is playing has a 12 string on top and a six string on the bottom to create a more fuller sound in certain parts of the song and the six string for more basic sound and solos. You mentioned the clarity for a recording done in 1973 and this performance is based on three separate sold out shows at the Garden and while the performances are live this entire album is a “soundtrack” for an overall film and there were many overdubs and sounds added in the studio post performance,This is not to say the band wasn’t good live because they were actually much better live than there studio performances and they would play more than three hour shows and always gave it everything they had True masters of Rock and Roll,some consider them the best of all time and after selling more than 300 million records that’s an argument that can be made.
