I don't want to give some no talent, troll losers that realized if they shit on bands that have received popular (irrelevant), critical acclaim and not one musician who is respected on the instrument played by the members of Zeppelin would have praise and huge respect for what that band accomplished in terms of their catalog. by the way, learn your history the Rolling Stone writer who criticized Zeppelin on the first album practically suck their showed on the second album claiming page would shut down any other Blues musician playing rock and roll at the time including Clapton . not to mention that the music critics are for the most part absolute jokes couldn't make it as musicians or writer's and invariably ridicule any band that hasn't been around the block a few times. It's amazing how is the critics always loved the band they previously criticized when they realize that the band has a fanbase that will make them relevant regardless of the critic choking in that none of them are real musicians John Bonham is Untouchable on drums John Paul Jones was phenomenal bass player and Jimmy Page was one of the best guitar players of his Generation and let's not forget Robert Plant who's one of the best rock and roll vocalists of all time the fact you say 8 year olds can pull off Zeppelin material as well or better than Zeppelin shows you don't know shit about music. It's cute when a virtuoso child plays adult music but the one thing you miss Which is the entire thing is the feeling, vibrato the vibe and most importantly the ability to groove. when you also say The Beatles and Pink Floyd sucks and then include bands like Nirvana and Green Day and Weezer in your clickbait website, I I know exactly what you're doing. Many of those bands are not particularly accomplished musicians oh, so you sort of have a point but devoting a website to criticizing guys who are out there doing it is a sign that you jerk offs are doing nothing more than exploiting the big name musicians with a large fan base knowing you'll get a lot of hits from angry fans who are loyal to and believe in the skill and talent of the bands that they love. the fact that you lump marginal talent in with true innovators who are adored by the best and most Innovative musicians of each subsequent generation, indicates that you are doing nothing but trolling and just using a band's popularity as the determining factor to feature them and say they suck knowing you'll get lots and lots of hate. it's really a low-rent way the little douchebags who have nothing else to offer, build a following based upon other unhappy jerk offs who love it when great bands and in some cases marginal talents that made it big, get criticized because it's not the douchey music that you listen to which I'm sure is just completely pathetic. so why don't you go ahead and school us on what real musical geniuses sound like. that means that Founders This Thread need to get a video together of them playing guitar bass drums and keys or piano to show us how great you are. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that you absolutely suck at playing good rock and roll, Blues blues rock most likely jazz and if you can play anything well it might be classical because a lot of classical musicians are very snobby but tend to suck at lots of other genres of music. In fact the 6 through 10 year old crowd of impressive musicians tend to be classical players and they're more likely the to fail rock blues jazz because the feel that is required. Incapable of playing a handful of classic rock riffs with correct timing but to play it with proper feeling and that is what makes good music. So I see what you're doing and if you can make money doing what you're doing then more power to you. But the fact that you were lumping the greatest rock and roll band to all-time in with pop culture ship bags that can not play the instruments with any level of skill and proficiency, is an obvious indication that's you are being disingenuous, I have no idea what you speak of as you never provide an example of what you you believe represents Musical excellence or feature any of your own music that exemplifies Musical virtuosity it was probably a terrible mistake to give you guys relevancy by gracing your half-assed KZbin site with real insight. In closing you guys are disrespectful, irrelevant. punks and should be physically tortured and spend the rest of your lives in prison in solitary confinement or possibly executed by being fed to Komodo dragons

The effect on Plant's voice isn't really an effect. In their later years, Plant blew out his voice so bad that he couldn't hit high notes even in the studio. It's not confusing. They don't select bands based on how good or bad they are, they do it based on how propped up by the mythology and narratives pushed out by the machine of the music industry. It's about removing all the glamor and commonly repeated opinions and trying to present the bands for what they really are, putting emphasis on all their flaws and fuckups. Some episodes they do it poorly and don't go beyond the surface level but in others such as this one they get deep into it. They don't actually think most of the bands suck, but they aren't infallible either. Metallica are a good example. They are objectively a great band if that exists but they have made so many baffling decisions throughout their career and there are loads of instances of Lars and James being assholes. That Some Kind Of Monster documentary is rough to watch too.

I loved Zeppelin as 12-16 year old kid but once I hit High School and was introduced to so many other bands I pretty much stop listening to them in 79. Now as a 60 year old man I see how they are Way overrated and ripped off so many blues artist without due credit. The page riffs with bonzo's heavy handed drumming just did it for me as a kid. Still a great band among many but not the best ever....not even close. As a guitar player I love to play their songs but the lyrics, plants voice and heavy handed drumming don't do it for me anymore. Kind of makes me sick how overglorified they are today.

And it's waaaay too long! Hate it. Whatever your opinion on this band is, they still have much much better songs than that piece of trash.

You guys needed to talk about the crap songwriting. Try this: forget that you know who Led Zeppelin is. Forget that you have seen people wearing their t-shirts. Forget shirtless middle-earth hippie Robert plant. Forget images of Jimmy with his double neck guitar. Just forget that you are SUPPOSED to think they are cool. Forget that you know their music. Now listen to a couple songs as if it were your first time hearing them. Actually listen to "Black Dog" "Whole Lotta Love" etc. Then tell me if you think the band you heard knew how to write a song. If you wrote a song like that would you even tell anyone? Honestly Bonham was the only one who had an ear for music and he, unfortunately, did none of their songwriting.

Keeping it going with my meaningless jumble of comments on each video, i like a few led zeppelin songs that are great, but a lot of their things are meh as well. Jimmy page is also sloppy af. I think its terrible that people defend the hell out of him. Like they give him so much leeway for being garbage at every reunion or even their live performances. He just doesnt seem to care about his performance at all, its like he never practiced or anything. The most famous stairway live performance hes out of time for like the first 20 seconds or something, then misses notes the rest of it. My general opinion on a lot of them, especially trying to come up with musical art of my own, is to take the interesting parts of a lot of their music and then appreciate those but not everything else. He had some cool riffs, but he didnt have LOTS of good stuff, just a few. And even in his prime he was kinda eh

So did Keith Moon, it's how they got their name. He said "It'll go over like a lead zeppelin". You see, Zeppelins were first filled with hydrogen until the Hindenburg caught fire in Lakehurst NJ, and then helium afterwards because it's an inert gas, because both gases are lighter than air, making the craft weigh less than the air it displaces. Lead, on the other hand... long blimp crashes into the ground, like they did in the late 70's.

Thank you. I grew up in a house that listened to Bach and Beethoven, so when I first pioneered the uncharted expanses of rock and roll, I found Led Zeppelin to be an engaging and rebellious substitute for what I (wrongly) perceived at the time to be overly sophisticated and erudite music. However, when I discovered the Beatles I realized that pop music can be art; and that inventiveness is not the exclusive domain of the old masters; and with Dylan, I discovered the artistic potential of 'low culture' or 'folk art.' These artists also helped pave my path back to the work of Bach and Brahms and Wagner, whose artistic projects, in terms of emotionality, melody, lyricism and cultural significance, I was missing until that point. They ceased to be subjects of formal study. My appreciation for Zeppelin diminished in direct proportion to my increasing musical intelligence. Their work began to seem monotonous and uninspired when examined by itself, and utterly trite when placed in its original context. How much of Zeppelin was simply about reprising the already diluted British blues music of their contemporaries? Nary a song from them swung with a rhythm not overly ponderous and muddy; nor did a single of the pieces contain a melody that a causal listener might deem 'infectious,' let alone a critique describe as baroque or 'Purcellian." Moreover, whenever they were in the studio, the production never gave to the songs the shiny gloss that they so desperately needed. The album recordings are fuzzy and unclear, sounding almost as if were listening to tapes ravaged by humidity. Page was as unscrupulous a guitar as a producer. His playing his unbelievable sloppy for a musician of his caliber. His solos are almost unpleasant due to their inability to find a groove or lock into anything resembling a melody. Zeppelin arrived as an idol in a period where iconoclasts were passé. They suited the tastes of white adolescents from Columbus, Ohio, who were uniquely desperate to dispel the tedious benignity of suburban life by listening to the modern equivalent of a Sacaea.

Music can be really good without being complex. The fact that 10 yos can do it on youtube isn't the problem and the opposite isn't necessarily true either. Van Halen's talent doesn't automatically make them amazing, there's more to music than that. Even still, you're spot on. Led Zeppelin is like the best Classic Hard Rock band ever, the genre is just trash. They were one of the first things to get me really into music though, probably for a lot, maybe even most of us.
