The title of this song is pronunced Jamaica. But, it's written as D'yer Mak'er because that's the way a lot of people pronounce it in England where this group is from. D'yer Mak'er is pronounced like Jermaker (Jamaica). It's a little joke which plays on the reggae vibe of the song as well as a funny story of two men talking. Love the reaction. It's great to see you like Zeppelin! You're right, they were a supergroup! A couple of facts: 1. The title is pronounced like Ja-make-ah or Jamaica--its short for "Did ya make her?". It refers to a joke Robert Plant heard frequently in pubs in Birmingham, England. It goes, "The wife went on vacation today!" "Jamaica (or Did ya make her? In an English accent)?" "No, it was her idea!" 2. to answer who did what: Jimmy Page played all guitars, John Paul Jones played bass and piano. Which shows how good they were at multi-tracking the music. The reason being that Page and Jones were session musicians and producers before they got together in Led Zeppelin.
@zosometalgod3 жыл бұрын
That's jimmy page over dubbing rythm and lead solo guitar parts! He does that on all his studio recordings there's songs where page has like 5 guitar over dubs! 40+ years of listening to this I never knew that. Always wondered about the name too. So Thanks!! I can now die peacefully! :)

English pronounce it like Jamaica which is the same way they'd pronounce Did you make her (D'yer Maker). It's a little joke that's a play on words. Also if you listen to the lyrics of the song it's about a man who doesn't want his woman to go. It was she who wanted to go. (In line with the joke about a man's wife going to the Caribbean and his friend asking 'Jamaica?' and the man says, 'No she went of her own accord'.)

Reggae beat. JPJ does bass, keyboards (and mandolin in some songs).

*Hi Triple M! Eminem and M. I was hesitant in checking these guys out before. I thought they’d sound like all other bands. They surprised Thaphuck outta me. Pleasantly surprised.*

Led Zeppelin is quality. Kashmir, when the levee breaks, living loving maid, that's the way, misty mountain hop, boogie with stu, fool in the rain. You almost can't go wrong with any album or track. They were that good.

Additionally to this, I read the biography When Giants Walked The Earth. Amazing for any rock and roll fan. For just over a decade this band was gangster and the epitome of rock n roll excess, talent with alls the sins inbetween.

I don’t know if anyone has recommended it yet, but Heart preforming Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center, in front of Led Zeppelin is just magical. To me Heart are the only ones I would approve of covering Led Zeppelin.

@@LFRFAMILY DO IT.... Please!!!!!!! The performance is epic and Robert Plants reaction is something to see....It's important to note that the guys from Zep did NOT know that Jason Bonham(John's son) was going to be there, let alone be playing the drums on his Father's drum set! Also, this was an event awarding and honoring Zeppelin for their contribution to American culture and the performing arts.... it's a big honor and even more cuz they're Brits.

@@michaelgilbert197 also that Jason was wearing his father’s bowler and the love the guys gave Jason afterwards from the balcony , is just one of many reasons I just love this cover to pieces.

3 recommendations. 1. The Crunge. It's their homage to James Brown. 2. The Song Remains the Same. Opening track to the album Houses of the Holy. Best opening track to an album ever. 3. Since I've Been Loving You. My favorite of their blues songs. Thanks for your Led Zeppelin reactions!
@briantruitt27513 жыл бұрын
Shit you already did Since I've Been Loving You. So I recommend 2 songs. Here in Delaware, our Philly rock station plays these 2 LZ songs in a row. They go great together and hopefully there's a KZbin video of those 2 songs in a row. The songs are: Heartbreaker and Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Women.)

@@LFRFAMILY Jimmy played bass in the Yardbirds for a bit, just so he could be in a band. Then their bass player came back, and Jimmy played guitar along with Jeff Beck. Prior to that, Jimmy and Jonesy (JPJ) had worked together as studio musician's, so when Jimmy started putting together his own band, Jonesy's wife told him to call Jimmy... and the rest is history.
