During the second breakdown, and you hear Robert Plants voice floating in, singing just before he really comes in was an accident! On the original master, the magnetic tape was wound too tight, and imprinted and his vocal transferred over. They kept it in because it sounded cool.

This band comes at you from all directions, bro. They have one of the best guitarists ever, one of the best vocalists ever, one of the best bassists ever, and, quite possibly depending on who you talk to, the best drummer of all time in John Bonham. Honestly, if you look him up, they called his drum sticks tree trunks or something because they're huge. And he plays behind the beat. It's subtle, but it's also everything.

@M 40 If you're watching reactions, it would be hard for me to believe you haven't seen or heard this. However, I'll post it just in case you haven't. If you like tight instrumentals, this is for you. It's 10 mins long, but worth every second of your time. Give it a shot to the end and I promise you'll be blown away by the tight musicianship, amazing spectacle, off the charts vocals, and some of the best drumming I've heard in forever. The only thing I can begin to even try to compare it to is if Queen and Pink Floyd did a collaboration. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIrNep9-jKd0jNE

@henriettaskolnick2903
@henriettaskolnick2903 5 жыл бұрын
The sound going back and forth in the headphones is called "panning" and it was intentionally mixed that way. Led Zeppelin believed firmly in providing musical journeys and where you went was up to your own imagination. They were known for being hard rock/heavy blues but they played a variety of styles from folk, ballads, ethereal, epics, funk - everything. Their music will take you through many moods and emotions. Try their first song from their first album, it's called Good Times Bad Times.

Yes, yes, I am sure everybody already commented on what you were picking up with the stereo effects in the headphones, and yes, Robert Plant had an amazing voice, and the band had incredible musicianship. And in fact, they pulled in musical influences from all over the world, so you're not off-base in reacting to feeling like you were in the middle of a tribal experience. One of the most influential bands in history.

Just play the entire first album, outstanding effort !!! Most of the Led Zeppilin II - awesome ! And for me, with few song exceptions, the rest is downhill. It starts to show why Jimmy Page is an overrated guitarist, especially live, as he is very sloppy. I know I'll get flack for this, but I've seen Led Zeppilin when they first came to the states in 68 - 69 and a few times in the late 70's. And the albums and live shows reflect the difference in quality from early and latter efforts. Keep in mind that this is my opinion and how I see it, so there is nothing to argue about. I can't help how I personally perceive things, and trying to sway my opinions after nearly 50+ years is not going to work as I've heard it all before. I love the band, but just think Jimmy Page is not the immortalized guitarist people make him out to be. But he is a great fit for Led Zep.

If you’re just starting to explore the biggies, you won’t find a debate about “the greatest band ever” without Zep being mentioned. Zepplin, Floyd, Beatles, Stones, The Who, Sabbath (especially early sabbath), Queen ... There’s dozens of others, then it’s a rabbit hole.

Well, the Beatles were the OGs. They basically invented the 'rock band' format. So the question is usually "Best rock band other than the Beatles," because the Beatles exist apart. And it usually boils down to Led Zep vs. the Stones. But yeah, most people will admit there are at least 20 or 30 bands tied for #1.

One of the many things I like about Zeppelins songs is that they all tell a story. If you listen closely you can picture the story in your head. All great stuff. All done before all the technology we have today. Real talent right there.

@nomoremr.niceguy4778

All steel stringed. Jimmy Page is a master at alternate guitar tunings and scales, using the 12 string section to fatten the sound or add a chorus effect in the days before pedals and stomp boxes were created to do that. Zeppelin is best listened to with good headphones from a good stereo amp from good vinyl and lights out. Go on the journey. You won’t be disappointed.

It's really great to see young ppl turning on to 70s music; it was a complicated but great time to grow up. Have you heard of Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young)? They have a remarkable catalog, but 2 of my favorites are OHIO and TEACH YOUR CHILDREN. OHIO is the story of a legendary historical moment in time that I doubt is taught in today's Social Studies bc it relates to American government turning our own National Guard's guns against young students on a college campus. I hope you get a chance to hear at least this one. TEACH YOUR CHILDREN is about how our parents learn and grow by teaching us of their personal helps, with a sweet twist.
