That middle portion with all the weird sounds... the weird sounds were me by an instrument called a Theramin. That kind of weird sound exploration was at its peak in rock music toward the end of the 1960s. I agree that this song may be one of the best pure rock songs ever. Great reactions!

You won't need to fight me. I am an old rocker from that era. To me, Led Zeppelin played the best hard rock. We would dance like maniacs to their music. May I suggest you listen to Three Dog Night's Black and White. The music and lyrics are amazing.

Glad you found the real Led Zeppelin on Whole Lotta Love...a little trivia--on AM Radio they played this song so many times we got itired of it. Then FM did the same thing and there were days they played it 2-3 times a day multiplied by 50 years is a lot of Whole Lotta Love. Now people like you hear it for the first time and I love it and you have renewed my interest. I saw them Live in 1975 in Chicago and they were great! Keep up the excellent work and reactions! Back when this came out stereo was fairly new and when we would hear Page's guitar and Plant's vocals go from one speaker to the other it was fantastic. Then they came out with quad and it really kicked tale.

Thank you again for another excellent reaction video Elok! Your jokes were great and your reaction was spot on. Chris Simpson made some fine points about how times changed with rock music, and while I don't necessarily disagree with him I will add that the list of influential, original guitarists was longer and included Brian May of Queen, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones and Pete Townshend of the Who among others. Since you enjoyed Whole Lotta Love you need to try Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid - two songs that just go together as one!

Yes! Led Zeppelin sounding particularly funky and raunchy, in part due to Willie Dixon’s dirty schoolboy lyrics. Plant howls like a werewolf on this track and Page whips out a marvellously pithy and pungent guitar solo. If you get a chance, check out the live version from the film “The Song Remains the Same”, as Page uses a Theremin to approximate the weird middle section, and waves his arms about like a sorcerer. It is the live version recorded at Madison Square Garden in 1973, which I note someone has already suggested in the comments. It’s always fun when you get the Led out Elok! Rock on! 🤘🏻

Well done Eloka Glad. you found the album version ! Alot of their early songs were either blues covers as in this one. which was originally dy Willie Dixon. Their first album just called Led Zeppelin was very heavily influenced by the blues. They just put their own take on it and rocked them out !Their first album for me is one of their best. You must check out "Since Ive been Loving You. Its a brilliant example of Rockin up the blues. Keep up your good work You are going to be busy catchin up with all this great music Keep smilin and rockin !👍💌

I'm glad you did the studio version because the "official video" version is shorter. In general, there isn't a lot of video for Led Zeppelin so you may have to do audio only for some songs. As others have mentioned, the strange middle section was Jimmy Page playing a theremin. A theremin is an instrument that is played by moving your hand around an aerial to create different tones and pitch. Theremins were often used to create "other-worldly" sounds for science fiction or scary movies. You are doing a great job. I would suggest maybe you also select a Zeppelin song at random because they have a powerful musical catalogue. I guarantee that Led Zeppelin fans will watch.

I like that you learn a bit about the band and the song before your reaction. A sense of time and place is very important with many of the great songs from the 60's and 70's. For instance, the song "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane is greatly enhanced with some knowledge of the drug culture of the mid-late 60's. This would be a great song for you to react to, Elok.

Hi Elok. Led Zeppelin are one of the first, and one of the best heavy rock bands. At the beginning real heavy rock was not only the hard driving sound, but incredibly gifted guitarists who were inventing sounds never heard before - Eric Clapton in Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page in Led Zeppelin, and and Richie Blackmore in Deep Purple. But as time went on, it changed from heavy rock to heavy metal and even glam rock, and it started becoming more about the image and less about the talent. So there became a lot of loud bands with a strong beat, but deep down the music wasn’t that great. But it’s good to see you have started with the best. Keep up the good work - you are doing a great job. And before you move on from Led Zeppelin, please do Dazed and Confused.

Hi Elok, this is a great song and it happened during my musical transformation. My Musical growth had been changing. I still loved Rock but I felt myself changing and if you follow the singer Robert Plant and Guitarist Jimmy Page you'll see a group started called The Honeydrippers because they both liked music from the 50s . I was into a man called James Brown, The Godfather of Soul, my #1 tune from him was "Cold Sweat", but he had many Great songs. I remember being 10 years old and being in my socks dancing on our linoleum floor, imagine a white boy from Wisconsin dreaming he was James Brown LOL. Keep Listening to Good Music Elok Hsu, it will change you too

A word of warning regarding Frank Zappa, the guy was the major league king of counter culture. Translation: he ridiculed every cultural stereotypes, including the nastier ones. He did it using what could be called in polite company "choice words". In other words, he used a lot of rude and crude words.
