You just can't beat 70s music! I am really excited for people who have never heard them before whether young or just in a part of culture that has maybe self-limited their music experiences before. I also love seeing younger people get exposure to 90s music, which is also quite good. I do love listening to people who have only listened to one kind of music, maybe R and B and hip hop, and had just missed the entire 90s Alternative catalog somehow, even though they were alive. By the way, you just witnessed the best rock and roll drummer in history. When he died, the band broke up, that's how indispensable he was. Literally no one has been able to play the same way that John Bonham did, not even his son. I think it was at one of the US festivals or it could have been a rainbow festival can't remember, but what was left of Zeppelin did part of the show. It took two drummers to do John Bonham's part. When he died, he took the soul of that band with him. Yes, all of them were unbelievable in their own right. Jimmy Page is a guitar God. and of course Robert plant has amazing vocals. But when John Bonham died so did the band. They decided they couldn't go on without him.
@bjcee11082 жыл бұрын
Just like Rush and Neil Peart. 😔
@ramonw94302 жыл бұрын
I think John Paul Jones was pretty indispensable too. It was really the interaction between him and John Bonham that made Led Zepplin what it is. And John Paul Jones wrote many of the riffs in Led Zepplin. Especially in this era of the band. On Zepplin I and II John Paul Jones was playing a lot of power chords and riffing all over the place. Part of the reason John Bonham's playing was so unique is because a lot of the time he is following John Paul Jones as opposed to John Paul Jones following him like most bands. It gives it a different feel from most other bands. Any one of these musicians passing away or leaving the band would have had the same effect.

This is a very good example of how music genres sort of circle around groups of people who share it with others. So, many different groups of people lovin' THEIR music, spread it around, sometimes the whole world gets that groove/appreciation. That's why there are people -- especially young people -- who have never heard of THIS great music. It was a while before I even heard reggae music...and some people only know of old-fashioned country music, don't know what's happened while becoming modern, especially since women started writing and singing songs about THEIR lives that, of course, men never knew about. Anyway, enough examples. But it is a really good question -- How di you never hear of never heard this song before... !

To the unknowing, Led Zeppelin lives in the top floor of the Earthly Pantheon because no entity from the beginning of time till the present has ever crossed over demonstrating the infinite passionate realm that lives far beyond the moment, showing us a glimpse of the forever nature of that beyond!

Believe it or not, Led Zeppelin took a sample of another song 'You need love' (written by Willie Dixon) a 1962 blues song performed by Muddy Waters... they had to give credit to Dixon years later. "Whole lotta love" was a huge Zeppelin single in 1969 from their 2nd album 'Led Zeppelin II'... Other Zeppelin songs to check out - 'Immigrant song'... 'Black dog'... 'Rock and roll'... 'The Rover'... 'Kashmir'... 'Good times, bad times'... 'No quarter'... 'Heartbreaker/ Living loving maid'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥

Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy wrote "When the Levee Breaks" , Robert Johnson wrote "Traveling Riverside Blues" and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" was a Joan Baez folksong , and though they were criticized for "stealing" other peoples songs, Led Zeppelin was completely on another level. What they did with those songs is nothing short of EPIC ! Even the original authors would agree ! When I was a teenager in the 70's, an old biker turned me on to the Blues. Muddy Waters , B.B. King, Robert Johnson etc.. He explained to me how all the bands from the 60's were Blues fans ( Clapton , The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, The Yardbirds , The Kinks, and Led Zeppelin ). But when I heard Led Zeppelin , I was amazed ! I realized these guys were punching way over their weight ! They took Blues and Folk music to the next level and then some. Beginning with the first beats of the first song on their first album ( when Page , and Jones were 25 and 24 and Plant and Bonham were 20 ! ) , you can hear the very roots of the Blues being exploded into Heavy Metal , and they went every where in between and beyond. Truly Masters of their Craft !

@@beadyeyedmonster I'm not doubting what Zeppelin did... But they should have given credit to other artists for sampling their work. To their credit, they did give Willie Dixon quite a few props... but to credit Jimmy Page solely for the cover of Jake Holmes' 'Dazed & confused' was irresponsible. Black Sabbath & Deep Purple never had to go thru those kinds of plagiarism litigation (but all other kinds of lawsuits).

Yes, they sampled Willie Dixon and "borrowed" Steve Marriott's vocal styling from You Need Loving - Small Faces.

my fave zeppelin song always seems to be the last one I heard. they didn't make a bad song or even a mediocre song, banger after banger after banger across all genres - rock, blues, folk, jazz, acoustic even reggae. try the Live version of "Since I've Been Loving You" from the '73 concert at Madison Square Garden if you want to get absolutely blown away. oh yeah, I believe somebody asked how old they were, this song came out in '69 off their second album. Plant (singer) and Bonham (drummer) were only like 19 years old while Page (guitar) and Jones (bass, keys) were in their early 20's

I still listen to this everyday! There isn’t a single rock group since then that wasn’t influenced by Jimmys riffs, and Robs voice has been voted in best top ten of all time! Try Ramble On, Kashmir, there will never be another Led Zeppelin

I'm 28 and I grew up with this too. Truly got into classic rock in middle school and I've been listening to it daily since. I feel that this era, 90's and 00's made the best music. I grew up on bands like Blink and the such. I absolutely love both era's of rock. They should definitely react to Blink 182 and Fleetwod Mac.

@@DemonicTheAngel Fun fact Zeppelin started off in 1968 way before the 90s and the 2000s.But you are correct it's the greatest music oldies but goodies. 😆

@@kto_66 im not uncultured i know when Zeppelin started. I also know and love many other bands from that time. Cream is one of my favorites. I was just saying that music from the 90's and 00's had bangers as well. Both generations can have amazing music. I'm an audiophile, so i can recognize amazing music from any era. I dont think its fair to compare the eras though tbh. I see why you thought i didnt know lol when i said this era i meant the era from the song in the video.
