Never saw them live. Bonzo died right when I was getting into all this stuff. I Did see Robert Plant’s solo tours with his band 6 times. I was very impressed. He played a bunch of my favorite ZEPPELIN songs that I never thought I would get to hear live. Not the typical ones either. Like Trampled Underfoot and Into the Light. I was stunned.

If those 4 guys had been born in 1910, they would have revolutionized jazz and swing. Had they been born in 1965, they would have turned the '80's and '90's upside down. Bonham was a badass rock and blues drummer but, technically, he's not even close to the best ever. And neither is Neil Peart or Danny Carey or Ringo or Keith Moon. Trust me... Just because those dudes were in popular bands, that doesn't automatically elevate their skill levels. There are Fusion Jazz and Speed Metal drummers out there who literally laugh at the chops of conventional rock drummers. The key to Bonham's reputation was playing great on great tracks. Period.

Lex provides some apt descriptors: Sultry, gritty, feral, animalistic, raw, sweaty. I’ll add *visceral* (“felt in or as if in the internal organs of the body : deep”). I can’t think of a more visceral song. The rhythm/beat grabs and *pounds* one’s body and being. Add the stratospheric screams, and you’ve got a true rock classic. (Trivia: I recall reading that the “pre-echo” of Robert Plant’s voice at time 7:04-7:16 was a recording *accident*, but Jimmy Page and the engineer couldn’t get rid of it, then they decided they liked it and were tickled to have it.)

Very much in the same vain as Jimmi Hendrix. Such an Iconic and individually unique sound that is just so recognizable and unmatched to the artist that created it. So much so that bands like Kingdom Come (Get it on) get punished for even daring to sound like them. But yes, I love Cream too, I don't think there's too much classic rock that I don't like if I am being totally honest. “Back Door Man” is an old Blues term that refers to a person who slips out the back door as his side-girl’s husband opens the front door. Zeppelin was very rooted in blues music dating back to the early 1900s. Zeppelin was one of many white bands to play and expose many of the great blues artists during the 60s & 70s. This helped to restart the careers of the many blues artists of the time who were all but forgotten and therefore struggling just to get by.
