How could they not be with a front man with a voice like Robert Plant, the best drummer there ever was in John Bonham, the one of the most influential guitarist and guitar virtuoso in Jimmy Page, and one the grwatest bass players of all time in John Paul Jones. Can't beat that combination.

Very rude response to someone you do not know. I listen to an extensive amount of music from all over the world, but only once in a while does exceptional talent appear all at once, the bands we had that started in the 60’s were explorers in music, the leaders, the experimentalists and the music was amazing

Led Zeppelin had an enormous range of styles. This is not a band about who you can say if you heard one you've heard them all. A case in point would be "Thank You" from the same album as "Whole Lotta Love". "Thank You" is a love song that will touch your heart the way "Whole Lotta Love" touches...other areas. Zeppelin did not write a bad song so start anywhere. Some good introductory songs to this phenomenal band are "Rock and Roll", "Stairway to Heaven" or "Good Times, Bad Times". Enjoy the journey. Many experts consider Led Zeppelin as being the premier group in the "Second British Invasion" which featured Cream, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Uriah Heep among others. Modern listeners often say they belong to the genre of "classic rock", but they are incorrect as that typically refers to groups like the Beatles, Rolling Stones and the Moody Blues (i.e. the "First British Invasion") among others. As a matter of fact, back in the day, the music played by groups like Led Zeppelin was originally called "Heavy Rock" but that didn't last long and it became known as "Hard Rock" with the term "Heavy" subsequently referring to groups like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and others (i.e. Heavy Metal). Of course, the term "Metal" has been further subdivided since then ("Black Metal", "Death Metal", etc.) as well.

Whole Lotta love has nothing to do with Led Zeppelin. One of my greatest memories. I was GIVEN front-row center tickets to Zeppelin in an outdoor concert. It was hot and humid and Robert Plant was dressed much like in this video...and a blue norther (cold front) blew through and dropped the temperature from about 80 to 40 deg F in less than 5 minutes. They had all sorts of pyrotechnics and smoke that were just blown completely off the stage by 30 mph winds. Robert Plant kept singing throughout SOAKED with sweat. Oh, and "back door man" had a completely different meaning when Robert Plant said it - it was meant as the person you were seeing on the side - when your old man headed out the front door, he'd be coming in the back door.

Led Zeppelin was arguably the best Rock Band ever for me (Top 3 with the Beatles and Pink Floyd), you have barely scratched the surface but this was a great intro song into their magnificent catalog. They never repeat themselves and almost every song is great and some are all time classics that many say are their favorite songs in any genre. Your best best like other reactors is go through their 9 albums in order, (many have), 10 discs in total, it will be a sonic journey like no other. Start with song 1 on Led Zeppelin 1, Good Times, Bad Times, great opening track and was the first thing Planet Earth heard when they first got on the radio. Every album is great but a bit different than the one before but 3 of their albums (#2, #4 & #6) are often cited amongst best Rock albums ever. They will freak you out, they certainly did us back in the day and influenced all hard rock and metal bands that came after. They inspired Tony Iommi and Black Sabbath to break the mold and create the first, true Heavy Metal band the following year in 1970. That is another band you need to hear, they had the same shattering impact on the limits of Rock Music that Zeppelin did for hard rock, Sabbath did for metal. And both bands are so easy to get into because their music is so damn good. The great Rock Bands will be heard forever, I am so glad you are taking a chance on the best music in my 69 years. New fans with every reaction, Enjoy! Rock On.🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Hey, thanks for sampling one of the greatest rock & roll bands that ever walked the earth 🙂 Yes, this song is a cheeky one. Led Zepp took a lot of cues (and whole songs) from the great blues musicians of the past and turned it up to eleven. The thing is that the true old blues musicians were blacks from the poor south and the inner cities of the northern US, and they had some very frank language to describe their experiences. Later on that album there is The Lemon Song, which you will find even more forthright in it's descriptions of hanky panky lol. I heard this at the tender age of about seven or eight, back in the early 70s, but of course had no clue of what it actually meant until much later in life haha.

What is important is to listen to each of these performers' parts. You can understand the talent that was on display here. From the bass through the vocals down to the drums and lead guitar. Never before or after Led Zeppelin did a group of so much talent come together. There have been imitation attempts, even critics saying these guys were the worst at their trades but as a musician myself and being part of that time when music was king, these guys were simply the best. And I thank the Almighty I was around to enjoy their craft.

Led Zeppelin Summarized: 1. Each of the four members was a superior player at their instrument 2. Every album was different, yet every album was fantastic 3. hey were “underground” in the sense that they did not to TV appearances or release singles. If you wanted to see them, you had to see them live. This was before MTV made music all about “image”. Many fans had no idea what they even looked like. They did not need the kind of promotion you see other performers using. 4. They could nor reproduce their studio sound live and did not try. Instead, they expanded on their songs, improvised and played their hearts out. The LOVED performing and it showed. What other bands would go on stage for three hours, then perform encores? 5. They didn’t rely on sidemen to enhance their sound onstage. 6. They didn’t try to replace their drummer when he died, because no one COULD replace him. His intuition couldn’t be reproduced. He was an R & B drummer with an explosively loud sound that no one has ever reproduced and producers copied that sound by overmixing and amplifying drums in the studio. His equal has never been heard yet. 7. They were the antithesis of the empty commercialized contrivances of 80’s pop. 8. "Whole Lotta Love" is just one song and they were impossible to define by one song. Their musical output is remarkably diverse and unmatched for excellence.
@corrai1

Rosalie, you need to react to "Dazed And Confused", which is off their 1st album. "Whole Lotta Love", is the song that truly launched the bands popularity and is off their 2nd album. I was in 7th grade when this song came out. They are one of the very few heavy rock bands where just about every song they did was popular. Kind of like the way The Beatles were. You can listen to almost every Beatles album and you will have heard almost every song sometime on the radio. Led Zeppelin was like that. Incredible band. My first rock album I ever bought was Iron Butterfly In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida which was released in 1968. The title track, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, is a little over 17 minutes, and probably has one of the most well known drum solos on it from back in the day. Great reaction, please do more of the classic rock songs, so many for you to choose from.

One of the phrases is not quite as spicy as it first appears. In traditional blues vocabulary, a "backdoor man" is a man on the side; when the main man leaves the house by the front door, the lover sneaks in the other door. Led Zeppelin were ubiquitous in the '70s and released some classics. I'll recommend their 1973 Madison Square Garden concert version of Since I've Been Loving You, which is the official video version from their channel. Just remember that your grandparents listened to this music. It wasn't played in clubs. You didn't dance to to it. You made love to it and got a whole lotta love, every inch. Besides that, what great musicians! That era really rocked with talent. There was the influence of Southern Blues and early Rock, but the bands of the 60s turned music on its head. Great talent and creativity. LZ was a great band, but so we're plenty of others. And half the music we listened to was in the car on mono radios. There are great musicians today but nothing quite like what was heard back then. Music then was raw, exuberant, weird and wonderful. From the soft sweet notes of Simon and Garfunkel to the blast of LZ, it was a great time to live. Pax.
