I grew up here... walked up Church Lane every day to school... and down it again at the end of the day. You've done a great job of capturing the town. Brilliant timing too. Hearing the.town clock strike at the market house and then walking up Church Lane to the sound of the church bells playing a hymn tune. We used to file into school to the sound of those bells. We used to go to an amazing youth club in the vestry of the church - great times were enjoyed by a very small club :) and later Ismet and I got married in the church. Thanks for sharing this.

I also grew up here, walking up church lane through the wall gardens to school. I went to the youth club just off of bridge street. There was a cattle Market where the new hospital is built. I went with friends to the Milk Bar café by the Market House, also the wreck where there was a witches hat, swings, slide and roundabout. Saturday nights disco's were held for the youngsters, Swimming at the baths, and long walks and horse riding in the countryside with friends. The shops were closed half day on a Wednesday, no shops open on a Sunday. I spent most of my childhood horse riding. These were the days that hold special, happy memories. The wonderful thing about those days people gave their time to communicate with one another face to face.

I thank you for this video, Neil. I have followed you for some time now. I live in Queensland All my working life we were too busy or not affluent enough to travel to Great Britain. Through the lens of your camera, as well as those of a few canal boat and motorhome/campervan KZbinrs, I have seen/learned so much about your homeland through the eyes of normal people. It truly has been a remarkable experience. What a pretty street that was.😃

Thank you for this - it's a number of years since I visited Ledbury, and it brought back happy memories. It's a shame you didn't venture into the church - it's very large for the size of the parish, because I think it was thought Ledbury would become more prominent for pilgrims. It also has a separate bell tower, which although not unique, is interesting to see.
@harry130747 Жыл бұрын
Many local churches have separate bell towers. It was to make them defendable against the Welsh.. Note the low down arrow slits.

Dont forget to mention that Ledbury has a Non clinical testing facility along the Bromyard Road called Sequani. Where it tests on beagle puppies. It also has a necropsy unit there where staff watch how the animals die and how long it takes for it to die. Ledburys dirty secret.
@MrHestolemyname Жыл бұрын
Wow, I had lived there for years and never heard about that.
@tabitha4135 Жыл бұрын
We should protest that’s barbaric 😮
@cottagefireside38 ай бұрын
It was called Toxicol back in the day, residents of the town will know about this facility as it has been there for 50 years or more. With protests the facility was closed down, it looks like as soon as everything quietened down, they revamped and reopened the facility for testing on animals again.

I live close by but a couple of helpful items to potential visitors which might help so yes Ledbury is a really nice place with some interesting buildings and library which is a superb building but please note most of the shops and tea rooms ,with 2 exceptions,dont open until 10 and close at 4 . There aren't any Banks now with cash points but theres one at Tesco , the other at the Co op each at opposite end of the town and one in the Spar shop in the main street. I think one in the post office when its working. Street parking is 1 hour free far better than most in the county that charge . Outside of this its definitely worth time and has a half decent bus service and railway station to Hereford with connections and to London unmanned station though.😅
