Jimmy Page is great. Same with Bonham. But John Paul Jones comes from another planet!! His bass and piano skills boggle my mind! He's an astonishing talent and in my opinion, the most musically gifted in a group of ridiculously talented musicians.

To get the full experience you have to play all 10 or whatever number of their records start to finish. If you don't have time for that there is a fantastic multi-DVD from about 20 yrs. ago that captures 4 live shows with all kinds of special features and isn't more than $ 20-25 US. It will more than get your big toe in the water. When I got it, I spent a whole weekend watching it with some mild chemical enhancement but your call. You won't be disappointed. ROCK ON 🎼🎵🎶🎤🎹🎸🎸🥁

@@JeremiahB444 I miss saving up for a record with my paper route and the anticipation of finally getting it and excitedly ripping off the plastic and at last plopping it on the turntable while studying the liner notes. That's what IMO is missing in the computer age. The physical act of bonding with a piece of music and if lucky going to see their promotional tour. You're about the same age as my son and he is tired of me always talking about the good 'ole days but you strike me as someone who would lend an eager ear.... 20 as of May 2024 and I grew up listening to 70s/80s rock due to my parents who were born in 63 and 64. Ive always had a nostalgia for that time period just because of the mannerism of my parents and stories they tell me who were from that time. I definitely missed out, and no I’m not one of those self loathing types who hates everything about my generation. I just genuinely think I would’ve fit in the 70s/80s a lot more. Like, a hell of a lot more.

The intro of this song is what inspired me to learn to play guitar, twenty five years ago. To this day, virtually every time that I pick up one of my guitars, I play this song. It is such a joy to play, given all of the hammer-ons and pulls offs required.

That would be Yes for me. Turned onto them when I was 14 in 1976. Went to concert 3 years in a row at MSG. Greatest ever for me. Floyd is second but Yes just hits the hardest for me.

@@anonymouse4138 my son, Tyler was robbed and beaten to death April 20, 2013. He was an incredible musician, played six instruments played entirely at his own funeral all original music. He was really some thing he was 24. Thank you so much for asking. He would sit on the steps, going upstairs at the top of the steps and practice the intro to over the hills for hours on and on his Taylor guitar I never got tired of hearing it❤️ he also didn’t use a pick He played it with his fingers.

My dad sang this at my grandpas funeral when I was 12. I hysterically balled and wailed almost as loud as my Dad sang. I was mortified and heartbroken at the same time. Now I can say 15 years later I am proud and signing it live.

This song is one of their greatest, just tye whole atmosphere of tye song. It's like the song doesn't give you time to get some air and it just keeps going and going until you finally exit the rehearsal room and your back in the hallway where there's a soft sound that is rising. Beautiful.
