First saw these folks in Crowley,La. at Bellazaire's in August of 1992. My ex wife's nephew was playing drums for Lee at that time. I don't remember if Mark was on the fiddle then or not. I'm happy to see you all have stood the test of time, and kept the culture alive. God Bless you all.

Mr Lee does a wonderful job on that old beautiful Cajun Classic Allons Danser Colinda. What a joy to hear his version. I've heard this lovely song covered by numerous groups and Lee Benoit's cover is one of the Best. Before I die, I would love to see Mr Lee perform live. I'm 72 yrs old. I love Cajun Music. Luv ya Lee!!!

Calinda (also spelled kalinda or kalenda and Colinda) is a martial art, as well as kind of folk music and war dance in the Caribbean which arose in the 1720s. It was brought to the Caribbean by Africans In the transatlantic slave trade and is based on native African combat dances. The well-known Cajun song "Allons danser Colinda" is about a Cajun boy asking a girl named Colinda to do a risqué dance with him; probably derived from the Calinda dance which was reported to have been performed in New Orleans by Afro-Caribbean slaves brought to Louisiana.[1] Dancing the "Calinda" is also referred to in one of Louisiana writer Kate Chopin's most famous stories from Bayou Folk (1894), "La Belle Zoraïde," which stresses the strong Afro-Caribbean presence in Louisiana.[8]

At Long Last the Cajun Community has produced a singer that can carry a tune AND has the ability to enunciate the French so that even a hard of hearing Old Goat like me can understand what He is saying / singing. He is right up there on the same level as Belton and Steve and Vin. It makes you want to jump up out of your seat and push your Old Lady around the Dance Floor! I can't believe I have JUST NOW passed across this young Man's Path. ALLONS DANSER MON AMIS !!! ( YOU TOO, COLINDA!!!)
