This is by no means a Lee vs. Dillon comparison video. I'm sure folks will take sides and tell me why one is better/worse than the other anyways as that just seems to be part of the blue/red "battle lines".
No secret I'm a big Lee fan as their products are what got me into reloading in the first place and I continue to purchase Lee product (e.g., recent inline bullet feeding die solution). I also look at the value of what I'm purchasing. Sometimes I do deep (e.g., Hornady Case Prep Center), while other times I remain cost/value focused (e.g., LCT press). At the end of the day, to each their own.
I thought I'd show what comes in a 3 die set pistol caliber offering from each vendor. Same-ish product, with slightly different offerings. What surprised me the most recently is the pricing of Lee dies. In my ramp up days of buying dies I was paying $30-$35 for a 3 die set, a but more for the 4 die set that include the factory crimp. Those prices have almost doubled based on current prices and only seem to be going in one direction, so the "value" position of Lee is changing from what it used to be. Still less expensive, but is the delta worth is today?

Is there after market support for Dillon dies ? It seems the Dillion Press designs require aftermarket parts.

I recently gave Lee dies a chance after using mostly Dillon and Redding. I was pleasantly surprised with Lee being priced so much better. But I will say that my Lee dies (rifle) require more lube than I’m used to needing. I was getting cases stuck left and right and about to give up on Lee. But I tried some Lee lube that came as a sample with one of my die sets, and not an issue since. I’m not really sure what exactly is different with the dies, the Lee seems to be not as “smooth” as my more expensive ones. But the end results are indistinguishable to me.

I have mostly Lee dies also. Talk about instructions, RCBS products are the worst for that. I have a press and just bought a bench priming tool and their manual (s) are horrible. If you are new to the game, better go to KZbin for help. Happy New Year.
