The rule should take into account the benifit it gives the defending side. If the ball hits your defenders arm/hand and blocks a ball in its alot different to if your team tries to clear it and it hit the defenders arm on the way out of the box.

Why was KDB not given a pen for the foul committee against him by Fred in the 18yrd box? Can't disagree with any of that. As a United fan I'm more annoyed about De Gea conceding that 2nd goal and McTom not scoring in the last few minutes. The result is what it is. City are a very good team and not all refereeing decisions in football games will appear fair even if they are within the rules. Overall it was a good game with some excitement as opposed to the procession it could have been after Gundogan's first goal.

It’s how Utd paid the refs and didn’t even check the penalty on KDB, that’s a clear penalty Fred didn’t even try go for the ball, just took out KDB. I love the new way handballs are given now in the penalty area. Eventually it will make defenders super careful in the penalty box which will make the game more exciting. I played defender at a very amateur level and often I would try and use the laws to my advantage by playing carelessly in the box because I knew I could get away with it. Now players can't get away with it and that is a good thing. Grealish wasn't careful enough and the ball hit his hand which advantaged his team. Penalty! And City were still good enough to come back and win. Good luck to them on getting the treble. They deserve it. And I'm a lifelong United fan.

On one hand, giving it is unfair to Graelish who couldn't do anything about it, on the other hand not giving it would have been unfair to AWB, because he did cross the ball, but a hand stopped it from going all the way through. Any professional athlete, personal trainer, medical professional, or even regular gym-goer knows every muscle in the body is connected. It isn't fair to expect a football player in an FA cup final to first and foremost think about getting their hands back down to their sides when they are challenging for a dangerous ball played into their own box. If players genuinely thought first and foremost about getting their hands out the way, nobody would ever be focused enough on challenging for the ball, and before they know it they've been made a mug of and their team has conceded.

They keep talking about the hand in an unnatural position. So if a goalkeeper is outside the penalty area with his hands down by his side, (in an unnatural position for a goalkeeper) and the ball hits him on the hand is that handball .

Just to be clear, he was not running backwards he was moving in a forward direction though the ball was delivered from behind his position. VAR makes almost all decisions debatable these days, whether it was a penalty or not is insignificant as City won anyway

VAR is excellent for offside call and if the ball is 100 % over the by-line ( like the world cup Japanese goal incident ). VAR for penalty is not so good. Most of the case, the ref first instinct made better sense.

I don't see how thats a pen outside of saying if a foul is in doubt award it to the attacking team. In my opinion, Jack's arm bounces up as a natural movement of finding his balance in mid-air as he is descending, he is close and his eyes are closed momentarily, he isn't even aware of the ball.

When the ref gives it, he gestured to Grealish to say it's cos his hand goes up a little further at the moment the ball gets to him so it looks like he intended to block the pass.
