WARNING: If you have a Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk III like in the video, you should NOT remove the butt-stock 0:32 before disassembling the fore-end (the part of the stock forward of the trigger). The butt-stock bolt of the No.1 Mk III has a square end that protrudes into the receiver and is kept tight by a steel "stock bolt plate" that is installed in the wooden fore-end. The plate has a square-shaped receptacle in it that keeps the butt-stock bolt from turning. To attempt to remove the butt-stock bolt while the fore-end is still attached to the receiver invites disaster, cracking and destroying the fore-end. This video should be viewed as entertainment or as an exploded parts diagram and not as a disassembly procedure.

Wonderful animation. Very detailed and clear. One question though won't removing the buttstock damage the fore-end? I've read that in Stratton's SMLE (No. 1) Rifles from North Cape, 2009. Skennerton's Lee Enfield Story says the same on p. 123. Removing the fore-end to tighten the butstock is a pain in the ass though. Is this an error on your part? I'm not trying to sharpshoot your work. Legit question, I don't know. Could it also be a case of a change of specs? The rifles were produced over a number of years and on three continents after all.

James Bridwell it actually depends the stock bolt started out having a square end that would lock into the forend. But later changed to being round. With No1 Mk3's remove the forend first just to be safe.

@@arroweyraud8267 I've got a 1942 No.1 MkIII* that has the square stock bolt, and my resources thus far have no mention of a No.4 style stock bolt (that does not require removing the fore-end first). Some Indian Enfields may have that feature because they made a lot of manufacturing shortcuts. However, that being said you should remove the fore-end before removing the buttstock. That is standard operating procedure.

Denis Brilla Ten návod mi docela dost pomohl při rozebírání té mé nové krasavice :-D Netušil jsem, že pažba je takhle složená. To mi vážně nenapadlo...
