If by chance Lee Greenwood is reading this. I was an 18 year old infantry man at Ft. Benning Georgia in 1993. I was stationed at the 1/50 infantry battalion on sand hill for OSUT. Every Sunday they would march us up to the theater there on Sand Hill. And we would have a church service and then at the end of the service they would play Lee Greenwood on the big screen and all of us would be singing and alot of them crying. It was a great break, and it was tremendous for moral.

Greenwood and the others who bailed on the NRA could have put together an honorable tribute to those who were murdered in Uvalde and helped to show the nation and the world that the NRA grieves these atrocities as much or more than anyone not directly affected. Nationalism IS NOT patriotism; there is no overlap, they are mutually exclusive terms. One is the idea that the country should only care for itself (economical/ethical argument) and the other is simple devotion to one's country. I always have been a gun owning patriot and I used to be an NRA member, but I no longer support them because they take in many MILLIONS and actually do very little (other than rely on past reputation) except for themselves and their local region. I am not anti NRA, but there are other ways and organizations that deserve my support.

The complaint is more that the NRA is a left-wing bugaboo and that the people dropping out did so because of the fear of left-wing nuts following them around.

Being of age and how to manage the sequence of returns in those early periods is what seems quite scary in the current market . The market is never a loser in a twenty year cycle , but the 2000s decade scenario scares me and could really disrupt my retirement . When you are no longer accumulating but withdrawing it's hard to be anything but cautious .
