Nobody could wind up the B 3 like Lee Michaels And Frosty hammering down the frosting ☮️🎹

I saw Lee and Frosty in Davenport Iowa in 1971. His concert was promoted for the week after my expected Army discharge. The theatre was kind enough to hold two tickets for me. I went with a farm girl friend. We sat on the floor and I unloaded the doobies into the crowd. I was only six months back from VietNam and still crazy. Lee was late and then he forgot the lyrics to Stormy Monday. As messed up as we were he was farther out. It made no difference and made me love him even more. Long live Lee Michaels 🎉🎉

I was at the Monterey show. It was an afternoon show, my friends and I were waiting by the entrance when he started doing a sound check with "Day of change" opening chords, VERY loud. After the show, we went to McDonalds in Santa Cruz, and by chance he walked in with his girlfriend. I bought him lunch , told him it was a great show, and later watched him drive away in his mini-cooper down highway 1 towards San Francisco.

I saw Lee perform half a dozen times with Frsoty and am happy as hell I didn't see him show up at the Forum with a piano and a different drummer so all my memories are like this song above. Last time I saw him was at the Hollywood Bowl opening for Iron Butterfly. And real happy I never saw him after he went off the rails. One of the greatest keyboard players and singers. RIP Frosty who died last year.

Lee was an amazing act with Frosty on drums. I saw him several times, opening for Jefferson Airplane, Whiskey Ago go, all over. THEN he screwed up and got rid of Frosty and his Hammond organ. But until then he KICKED ASS. Then he went insane. So tragic.

As far as I am aware Kieth never played with Lee while Lee had the B-3. Just when he went to piano. Could be wrong but every recording I've heard with Keith, Lee was playing piano.
@echinopsritro5 жыл бұрын
@@Buzzramjet This recording is from Lee's official live album, released in 1972, and the drummer was in fact Keith Knudsen. You are correct, Lee started touring with piano in late 1970 (with Frank Davis or Joel Larson on drums, before Keith Knudsen joined him in mid-1971), toured again with organ in 1972, and then in 1973 was using a trio configuration with electric piano, Joel Christie on bass, and Keith on drums. I imagine the live tapes you've heard with Lee on piano and Keith on drums are ones that I circulated on dimeadozen, but I'm curious, what are the dates and venues? Also, check out my Lee uploads here, if you haven't.
