This is a one of a kind perfect blend / cooperation between Lee Miller and Kirby Allison. How fortunate to own these life long elegant boots. Thank you for sharing. He probably takes years to actually make the boots because they are obviously hand made and he must have a ton of orders as this is a famous bootmaker. The only disadvantage to the long wait is that after 5 years your foot structure will change due to many factors such as age, weight and level of activity. I have seen boots made in a couple of months and the quality is top notch. There are many of these shops along the border here in El Paso.
@orlog33432 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong but I believe the time it takes to hand make boots is about 60 hours on average (varies for each craftsman of course) so yeah it takes so long because there’s a wait list for customers. This is a true bespoke maker too so he has to make a unique last for each customer as well. I agree it makes more sense to measure the feet once it’s time to make the boots
@deansmith60192 жыл бұрын
Definitely, a lot of good makers in El Paso.

Sir Here is a small doubt and a suggestion. Won't the way we fold our garment bags into halves and lock their bottom with the top by just a single loop affect the suit jacket's fall? Moreover, the end corners hanging and moving freely usually pose a nuisance and also lead to tearing of the bottom hook loop since it bares a lot of stress. Instead, there can be garment bags with 2 straps or belts to hold them intact and safe while being transported Thank you

I asked Lee if he would teach me the pinched rose and he told me that was one secret that he promised Charlie he would never divulge. So I happened to be in Duck Menzies' shop one day and I mentioned the pinched rose and how Lee would not divulge how it was made, and Duck said "oh hell, I'll show you". he said "I was at Charlie's shop one day and Charlie was headed out to go fishing. I asked Charlie how he did his pinched rose, and Charlie said come on inside Duck, I'll show you."...and that is how I learned the Charlie Dunn pinched Rose.

I haven’t watched for all that long, so maybe I missed a video where it is said. I saw you once at the Texas Discovery Gardens around a year and a half ago (during that drive through state fair) and almost asked then. However, you were wrangling one of your children who seemed to be having a bad day, and I didn’t want to be rude. If you’re reading this Kirby, I would love to know who you’d recommend.

I do hope that your feet have not swelled during that 55 month wait time..:-) In all honesty, the black leather looks amazing, but the yellow is a bit bright, almost fake? A man of style like yourself, I would think, would opt for subtler tones, but its your boot not mine. Not sure when wearing those would be appropriate, save for when you shoot your vintage movies
