I've been running the Auto Breech Lock Pro (ABLP) for about 2 years now on pistol cartridges. When you've got a toddler running around, time is as precious as it gets and this thing gets it done. I normally used the Lee Classic Turret Press as my old reliable, but the ABLP is as reliable and easy to set up as the Turret Press. Price is fantastic, reliability is as solid as the Turret Press and you can load safely 6 rounds a minute and like I said with a toddler each minute is a blessing. 5 minutes before I go to work = 30 rounds, 10 minutes = a day at the range.

I’ve used my Pro 4000 for 9mm for awhile now and am satisfied with it. For the price you can’t beat it, although you have to be patient, follow the instructions and watch the Lee videos on assembly. It can be finicky and requires your full attention and checking adjustments periodically. Lee provides some great support so use them when necessary. I managed to install a bullet feeder after some struggles so it’s almost a real “Progressive Reloader” just got to figure how to feed the primers automatically. Keep up the good work and thanks for the videos.👍

This is the review I've been looking for my just purchased Lee 90900. I won't be loading 6.5 Grendel, but all my pistol cartridges along with 5.56 and 30.06. My 50BMG will be loaded on my dedicated Lee 50BMG single stage Breech Lock press. Thank You again Gavin for posting these very helpful and very informative videos.

I just got my Pro 4000 as a dedicated .38 Special progressive press for loading cowboy action shooting rounds. I have the case collator which isn't the best but it works. I also have the bullet feed system. After loading 1000s of rounds on a Lee Challenger single stage press, I'm quite pleased to have a progressive press. I've never used a turret press or any other progressive press so I can't compare it to anything else. However, you can't beat the price. Additionally, I've used Lee products for years without a single issue with anything they produce so wasn't' concerned with quality. Before I purchase anything, I do a ton of research, read reviews, and watch KZbin videos. The Lee Pro 4000 just makes the most sense. Because to me the most important factors are 1) does it work as advertised and 2) is it a good value? Even though money is no issue, I just can't see spending a boat load of money when I can buy something that I know is going to work.

I have been using the ABLP since it came out - It was an easy press to set up and use - I however do all my brass prep off press including priming. So I have stage 1 powder - stage 2 bullet feeder - stage 3 bullet seating - stage 4 factory crimp die. I also use a automatic case feeder - now the fun part is I have a camera mounted so I can see it the case to see my powder level - so all I have to do is pull the handle and look at the powder level in the case.

I have one that i use mainly for 38 special. One problem I had was my shell plate was to tight for the primer tool so it binds on its way out. Ground out the bottom part of each pocket so it works. The only great thing I can say about the primer system is that I get a lot of exercise picking up primer from the floor! The press it self works fine, but my next press will be a 750xl! Love your videos! I'm not sure I would be into reloading if i didn't watch your channel!

I'm my opinion, the Safety Prime has always been the part of Lee presses that they haven't managed to improve much over the years, it's always been the weakest link per se. I've always found batch priming brass with a hand primer or otherwise and just feed in pre-primed cases makes this kinda progressive loading way faster.

Great video, well done Gavin. I've owned a Lee Auto Breech Lock Pro since soon after it was introduced. With the Safety Prime borrowed from my Lee Classic Turret Press and the brass feeder and Auto Drum powder measure borrowed from my Load Master, you could say I have a Pro 4000. I run some .380 and 9mm on it but, that is about all. It seems too small for my rifle calibers. I really like the Load Master except for its priming faults, so my overall go-to is the Lee Classic Turret press.

Bought mine a few months ago, load 45 colt/38spl/357mag with bullet feed, best bang for your buck! I would like to see Lee offer more shell plate options to include most of the small and standard length rifle cases to make this press even more versatile (45-70 too). Case feed and auto powder measure works very well, you will likley get some ball/spherical type powder leakage through the drum. I have two drums, one leaks slightly the other dose not.

I’d like to see this press with some longer cases. I’ve heard you have to remove the auto change rod and it becomes a single stage. Say .308, 300 WM, 6.5 Creed, 30-06. I’d try it on mine but I’m still waiting to get it...
@sjeppesen9
@sjeppesen9 Жыл бұрын
Everything up to .308 will run progressive I ran a lot of 6.5 Creedmoore on mine. You do have to remove the advance rod for longer cases it will start to rotate before the bullet comes completely out of the die and just turn it by hand after it clears and before it starts onto the guide rod. But all my larger magnum stuff I still load on my old trusty RCBS Rock Chucker as I have done for years! I just recently purchased a 6000 pro which is capable of running the large magnums progressively! But will still probably run my magnums on the single stage as I don't run hundreds of them at a time

IMO you should be measuring/trimming bottleneck cartridge brass after sizing because cases too long can increase pressures but maybe I’m missing something and that can’t happen if using a progressive.

How accurate is the powder charge? I'm thinking about buying this unit to reload 44 magnum using H110 powder. From everything I've read and watched, the gr weight with that powder really needs to be spot on or it can cause over pressure.

Im looking at the press and the Hornady AP. I know the Hornady gives you the ability to put in a bullet feed as well as a case feeder. Will this press allow you to use a third parties bullet feeder to make it a little more user-friendly. I’m not exactly sure if the safety prime system is all of that. But also, yet again I don’t own one of these presses at all so I’m speaking from zero Experience.

For some reason mine is very hard to push up or down when i am on depriming/resizing, it just doesn't want to go up or down, i did adjust so many times, and lube the case really good, it just didn't help much, i did a couple ammo anyway just to test out but it won't even fit in my ar15 chamber. Seems like the resizing dies made it worse than before resizing. What do you think the problem?

The powder measure can have the entire 1# powder attached to it instead of the small clear plastic bottle. This press is a very strong competitor to the Dillon 550. Same volume per hour, 4 stations, and so simple a cave man can use it. You can adjust the length of the lever arm so your shoulder is not in such an awkward canted position like in the video. The priming system is perfectly adequate for 3-350 rounds per hour. This is what a Dillon 550 realistically puts out. It is also simple.

I promised Lee I was done with buying another Lee press. I have 2 loadmasters, and 2 single stages. One of my singles messed up and the lifetime warranty was no good because they redesigned it. So I bit the dust with it. PS: my load masters are less dependable than a second hand yugo. They make good dies and case trimmers, but as far as their progressive press it’s surprising they can X-ray in business. My next press will be blue or green.

Do you see other benefits on the Pro 4000? Also, I see the Pro 1000 you can swap out the die turret to another set very easily, but the Pro 4000 looks to not have that feature.

You can run 223 on this well I run 223 224 Valkyrie 6.5 grendel 6.5 Creedmoore and 350 legend on mine the only 2 suggestions I have is run your sizing die only so you can size and trim then hand prime unless you are ok with dropping 1-2 primers out of 10 on the floor then set it up with powder bullet seater and factory crimp die and run it progressive that way! I have recently purchased the Lee 6000 pro for my rifle and keep my 4000 set up for pistol. The 4000 will run anything up to a .308 in overall coal

I'm an experienced reloader with 43 years of loading behind me. I own a lot of equipment and Speaking from experience, I can tell you that Lee Progressive Machines are Crap. Save the extra money and buy yourself a Dillon 550B , 550C, Square Deal B, or an XL650/750 or an RL Super 1050 . After one day of loading, you will be glad you bought a Dillon. If you buy the Lee, I guarantee you the you WILL get Buyer's Remorse.
