Lee Ryan & Nadiya Bychkova Jive to 'Blue Suede Shoes' - BBC Strictly 2018

UNBELIEVABLY IMPRESSED! With his slip up last week, I thought he'd have trouble with the jive, but he took it all in stride. His bounce was the most impressive, I was ready for him to be flat-footed. His kicks were sharp, too (of course they could be better but it's only week 2), and his energy was fantastic! Nadiya, my girl, you pulled through with the choreography, too! This was extra entertaining for me, and he is starting to become one of my favorites in the competition. 7.

He really captured the spirit of the dance. I loved the style of his movement so much. Great choreography from Nadiya. It was a great routine, really great. His musicality, his spins, his areography - it was all terrific. His kicks could have been much sharper and the pendulum hip action in the jive chasses was missing, but it was springy, bouncy, light. A vast improvement over last week. A 7.

Ooo, I am liking Nadiya's choreography in week one and week two! I didn't like many of her routines last year, but she's definitely improved from last year. Love the rock n roll stylisation. Lee by and large performed kicks and flicks well. But he must NOT lose the timing. He's clearly naturally musical and has a very healthy sense of rhythm. Maybe it was exhaustion that caused him to lose his timing. 7

So sad to see Lee and Nadiya in the dance off. But I remember Simon was in the bottom two quite often but he went through to the final with Kristina and he became a very beautiful dancer. Lee did much better in his dance-off. He only went ahead of the time once (and only very slightly) and he danced like his life depended on it. Which is what we want. The bottom two will humble him and make him work much harder to earn the love from the viewers at home and if he keeps up his good work, he and Nadiya will go at least through to the quarter finals...

@@ourliam4482 I don't really know the ins and outs of what Lee has or hasn't done so I was going purely by the dancing... I don't think he deserved to be in the dance off as there were others who didn't dance as well. I thought this choreo was wicked.. And it was a job well done!

I feel like Lee was trying too hard here to get the spirit of Elvis across which led to his timing issues and maybe even his weakening stamina. I think the kicks and flicks could have been more pronounced and retraction was lacking. He also has a hunched back whilst kicking which seems to take his whole body of centre. A shame. 5/10.
