Yeah that's what I was thinking as soon as I saw this game on my thumbnail saying Leeds 0-4 Arsenal 99/00 I thought that scoreline would've made it very difficult the previous season for ManUtd to claw the GD back when they travelled to EwoodPark the following day (May12th99) to then be favourites again going into the final day, albeit ManUtd would've obviously had a different mindset and tried to win more vs Blackburn than they did (and Ferguson's mate BrianKidd had recently got the Blackburn job and were in relegation struggle & Ferguson didn't know a draw was NOT ok for them to stay up until the post match interviewer told him then he went from happy to subdued) but then again Arsenal probably had what would've been ManUtd's mindset vs Blackburn in the Leeds 11thMay game thinking yeah let's beat them to go in front to be GD favourites but then Arsenal got nervous towards the end when it wasn't going as planned and didn't even draw which put ManUtd in great position but it was a fair reflection because Arsenal had just played easier teams than ManUtd after the first 36 games (and DavidElleray robbed ManUtd of a deserved win at Anfield May5th, the only reason Arsenal were back in it). Best team certainly won but only 17 goals conceded is an impressive achievement (but even more impressive to beat a solid team like that to the title) Arsenal 98/99 were better than the next 2 seasons so it's sod's law for Arsenal that they get a result like this when ManUtd are winning by record PL pts margin that would stand for 18years....and Leeds were slightly better in 99/00 hence qualifying for CL (they had been top earlier as well I recall) which led them to reaching the semi-finals 00/01 which took Arsenal so many attempts to achieve.

@@hooligoonerherdeie9682 A lot of "if's" but ManUtd in 97/98 needed less to change for them to have been crowned champions instead of Arsenal. If Scholes got the pen he should've won at Highbury Nov97 with the current score 2-2 a game Arsenal won 3-2 or if ManUtd didn't have to play JohnCurtis in various games such as Arsenal at OldTrafford another late Arsenal goal to win it & BenThornley brought on as a sub etc...or even just the Coventry away 3-2 defeat that was a freak late turnaround from 1-2 up after 86mins. ManUtd should've won the game but Arsenal got a 2-2 in that fixture where they were further away from winning & closer to losing for the majority than ManUtd were and that turn of events alone could've nicked Arsenal the title. Arsenal actually won by HALF a point in 97/98 injury ridden ManUtd had vastly superior GD by +12 (actually had the exact same GoalsFor & GoalsConceded as Arsenal "invincibles" 73-26, Arsenal 97/98 had 68-33) despite losing both head-to-heads vs Arsenal. ManUtd also had both Keane & Irwin injured at Highbury because obviously Keane missed 8months of the season but Irwin nearly had his leg broken in CL away to Feyenoord when Bosvelt was allowed to be subbed off before getting a 2nd yellow, Pallister had to come off injured vs Arsenal away. Schmeichel got injured during the season, so did Giggs, so did Johnsen. Cantona who'd never failed to win a league season in England that he finished had just retired which was lucky enough for Arsenal and also Poborsky was sold mid-season who wasn't a regular but he was a good international regular who would be better backup than a BenThornley. Even if Arsenal just had to play in Europe for near as much as ManUtd did ManUtd would've won PL 97/98. Ferguson learned from that season and made sure he had a team that will endure big fixture schedule, hard cup opponent list, cup replays, bad refereeing decisions, injuries/suspensions. Which was a good job because ManUtd had all those obstacles even worse in the 98/99 season which made the treble even more impressive. But Arsenal were a talented team. I just thought ManUtd were better in both 97/98 & 98/99 etc...I'm allowed to say that because Wenger had audacity to say Arsenal were still the best team in 2002/03 despite ManUtd winning that (and more deservedly than Arsenal 97/98) ThierryHenry scored 2 offside goals vs ManUtd in 2002/03 at Highbury April2003 so ManUtd could've been 3pts further infront than they were after the game finished a draw instead of ManUtd win and still won by 5pts, rather than by just 1 better result. Plus Arsenal's record vs the Top8 teams in 02/03 was nowhere near good enough for a team going for the title. ManUtd got over double the pts Arsenal got, Arsenal 17pts in 14 games vs Top8, ManUtd 35pts in those 14 games. Strange people still say Arsenal should've won that year. Yeah could've if ManUtd weren't so good when it mattered.
