I don't mean that you have a strong character if you fight,(which they do in this match) but if you look at their careers they have something in common, they are both fierce and passionate leaders that are have a massive presense on the pitch.

The game was always going to go this way.With the explosion of money,clubs want to protect investments like Neymar,its no good paying 200 mill for him to be injured by a Vinnie Jones tackle from behind. Another commenter nailed this years ago ; "British football in the 90's,was mostly British players,with a few Scandinavians,those players are not known for being small,technical players. You can't ask Iniesta to be "hard",if you aren't asking Batty to be skillful." Besides,have you watched any full games from the 90's? There are so many basic errors,or hopeful punts,or hoofed balls out of fear. The ball spends sooooo much time out of play,for throw ins or free kicks. Yes,there were far more characters,the game itself was more action packed(today 40% of games involve passing around either boxes) but today's game,is far faster,with the ball in play way more,basic errors and hoofed balls are sins for managers,and undoubtedly,there are way more skillful players. It always comes down to a trade off...no tackles from behind? ok but that means less tackles...banning heading for health reasons? ok but bye bye to Crouchie or Ferguson....safer stadiums for family's? ok......but you get rid of the most passionate fans(usually the ultra's or racist pricks) In the end,the game is better,how could it not be?It always progresses. The Prem has been an upward spike since inception,the bloody thing thrived during the recession.

There is so much to take away from this one game. Keane, a guy who usually reacts emotionally to adversity for some reason chose (uncharacteristically) to not respond to Vieira's antics on this particular occasion and look what happened. Keane got the last laugh, he kept his cool and got his revenge by scoring the last minute winner. It just goes to show what can happen if you just keep cool and be a better person. Vieira on the other hand...How did this guy avoided being sent off, I will never know. He headbutted TWO people in the same match and somehow didn't even get a yellow card. Lightly headbutted Keane, then grabbed/shoved Jaap Stam and followed that with a headbutt which led to Stam grabbing him by the throat. Stam a guy known for being quite a chill dude. Vieira should have been sent off and that clusterfuck right at the end with the Arsenal players literally kicking the goalkeeper in the face when the ball was clearly in both his hands. Granted, it was almost certainly out of pure desperation but still, if you have to resort to kicking someone in the face to score a goal, what does that say about your team? Still a great game, though and yeah, it is nice to see real football again, with real men and not this watered down, PG shit we get now. These were the magic golden years.

beckham was phenomenal, long and medium range of passing, incredible vision, balls through, free kicks, and obviously crossing. Can't believe how many football fans, and whats worse, how many united fans thought he was only a pretty face. The best united side of all time was really dependent on him and keano
@davetherave3511 Жыл бұрын
It was dependent on keane and Ryan Giggs, def not beckham. The year before utd treble, both keane and giggs got injured but beckham was fit, and utds season became a shambles. Treble year giggs and keane were back and we won treble, beckham Could not score the type of goals giggs did
@juanaltredo2974 Жыл бұрын
@@davetherave3511 the key there was keane, keane was the crucial element, but beckham was definitely more important than giggs, he added a level of creativity, crossing, assists and goals that giggs never did, but also he was a hard worker people like you is why I made my initial comment, and obviously I was vindicated, I do wonder if you watched united at all

This is how real man should play football... Players like Sterling and Salah won't survive a single season in this version of EPL...

Everyone knows the football and entertainment at this time is far superior to now but so is the commentary. Well timed energy, genuinely engaging statistics on the players and an all-round upgrade on today’s “fantastic, by (insert player)!”

When these Liverpool fans compare that cross spamming merchant TAA to Beckham, u know they were crying during Becks glory days. Beckhams crosses were sooo accurate, TAA literally dashes out 50 crosses a game and closes his eyes, hoping it hits it target

Scholes had a nightmare in this game, can see why Ferguson took him off, Arsenal did have a superb pressing game at that time. Becks was superb in 2nd half & Keane showing great finishing composure, not just a leader but a good footballer too

This sums up keane vs vieira. Vieira was a much better player technically and physically but you’d take keane every single time. Vieira and Arsenal players were winners, but united midfields look at that, the ultimate winners. One thing that people doesnt remember anymore, beckham and giggs were machine defensively, and used to slide tackles and won the ball back so many times. Dont ever tell me beckham isnt world class, everything de bruyne does, beckham did it with more range

Seems like players actually fought a bit back then. And then some player discovered that if you fell down and over-dramatized your pain, your opponent could get a red card. And thus, was born, the diving/writhing in pain culture.
