How can the organ restoration cost £1.5 million and the windows cost £1 million?? Are Windows more complicated to make than large organs?

The total cost actually is £1.8 million ! A pipe Organ is a complex instrument made up of thousands of pipes and mechanisms to control the sound from keyboards . To answer your question the reason why the costs are more then windows is. U have the costs of the builders errecting scaffolding to remove the pipes and mechanisms of the organ to transport them to the factory of Nicholson's in Worcester to restore them. And then the costs of other specialists involved in making new pipework to the project. As Andrew Caskie Nicholsons managing director explained. 60% of the organ is the existing pipework & 40% of it will have some new pipe work added along with new mechanisms etc.

@@magesterium2485 I am afraid you missed my point. I am fully aware of organs and what they cost and how they are built. I am an organ student and sell organ music. The question is, how can windows which are much simpler than organs cost £1 million pounds and a full size Organ £1.8 million? Are we saying the cost of making windows is more than the cost of building half an organ? Windows are cheap. Its just frames and glass. £100,000 for the windows would have been expensive.

The windows are double glazed and some are curved at the top so that all adds to the expense. Also installation is tricky and takes care and time so that all adds to the cost of them.
