That guided busway is where the trams used to run on a separate reservation away from the rest of the road traffic. There were even plans to create tunnels for them under the city centre to reduce traffic congestion there. Then a change of local government led to their scrapping as "obsolete". Such short- sightedness!!

I nominate York road as one of the most ugly depressing thoroughfares in the UK lol - I kinda like it though because it's never changed! it reminds me of the Leeds of old before it became a Gentrified hell hole!

I never understand the point of guided bus lanes and why city planners seem to think they are better than a normal bus lane, particularly, if like here, the stetches of guided lane are relativvely short and stop for every junction. Why not just buid a regular road in the same layout and call it a bus lane? The bus I regularly take to and from Leeds isn't adapted to use them, either. Stupid. X

What a waste of time & money this guide lane is. The buses keep moving from one lane to the other & then back again. Not to mention bus stops next to each other on the same side. Why didn't they just keep the outside lane for buses & that central road for cars ???
