Leek Town’s recent impressive run of results continued with a tight 2-1 victory over visitors Lancaster City with the Blues scoring two first half goals before showing guts and defensive resilience to hold on and survive a second half comeback from their opponents.
Leek’s began the game with the same line up as their previous home game against Matlock with Josh Brehaut restoring Alex Hurst to the front three in place of Ollie Shenton; a decision that would prove to be the correct one. It was the visitors, however, who actually started the game more brightly and immediately made their attacking intentions clear by launching a number of long throws and crosses into the Leek box looking for the height and strength of Lewis Mansell and Dominic Lawson to create chances for them.
