Magical video. As well as railway stuff the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire and Staffordshire Moorlands is so green. I do struggle to read the red on green text. Must be opportunity to extend the Manifold Valley cycle track to the railhead. Thanks for the video.

Wonderful and informative video thank you. I have long hoped that the line would be reopened as far as possible and become a regularly used part of the Churnet Valley Railway, such a shame it can never run into Waterhouses again that would have been a great terminus.

Its a fair old climb up the hill from Leekbrook, went to rhe spring steam gala, the Castle struggled, the std4 made a decent job, but to get up the hill an S160 is the better bet. Remember a few years ago when they had three S160s on a train .

Hi thanks for the comments, it surprised me also when I was sent the gradient profile which I included at the start of the video how steep the line was and when riding the train along the route it certainly makes the locomotive work 🙂

Brilliant footage 5*.. It is so beautiful, thank you for all your effort & sharing it. A question to all who view this, Did the farmers have to buy the old railway beds or did/ have they just taken them over? I have seen some old track beds in such a bad state, obviously not looked after 'reasonably' even seen dead cattle on them when we had foot & mouth / mad cows disease. No criticism but just wondering.

There was talk about produce from the Cauldon Low quarries coming back on the railways a few years ago wasn''t there ? But Tarmac pulled out of the deal because they said the rail charges were too high !

It would be great if more industries used rail transport, especially where the roads aren't the best for heavy goods vehicles on narrow lanes

It was the huge cost of entirely relaying the line and signalling onto the network.

Any chance of a drone update of the new leek station site? Apparently there has been further construction but it’s impossible to see from paths now

The rail adhesion must be extremely poor on that line 02:30 ! It's virtually eneveloped by trees !

I'm not sure how much of that section of route is used during the leaf fall season, maybe someone from the Churnet Valley Railway will give some information on how the rail adhesion is in this area. Thanks for watching

So, this line is still used by steam trains?

The Churnet Valley Railway run steam trains to the end of the line at Ipstones, and it's impressive hearing the steam engine work hard up the steep Gradient towards Ipstones
