Thanks for bringing back so many memories of the endless times me and my brothers and school mates spent on Berryhill fields, the Abbey and Milton areas.

Fantastic work!!! Wonderful preview of what we've got in front of us as we hack our way down to Stoke this year. Top backing track too. :) Thanks so much for posting!

I worked on the railways throughout the 1970's. The Stoke to Leekbrook line was still operational as a freight line. There were signal boxes at Endon and Milton junction.

It about time they bring that line back into use and run trains fron stoke to leek and the line on to couldon low ther a view stations there they can open up run trains from stoke station 😊

Nice .good use of maps and pics . thanks .I was going to do something like this from stoke to leekbrook before it all gets cleared. I have walked that track alot the last 20 years and walk a section almost weekly since it was mothballed .

I thought that the CVR (churnet valet railway) had brought this section of the line and the old line that runs through Bucknall by lyme kiln bank to the main line at stoke staion as there was talk about them running a shedueled serve to Stoke from Leekbrook Station but that wa sabout 18 months ago

Our congested roads and polluted environment make the reopening where possible of closed railway routes a no brainer, so why cant our governments see this? Surely the spending of billions on new roads / widening of roads is as short sighted as was the closure of thousands of miles of railways. I despair!

I meant to thank you for putting this together - great collection of pictures, and map to trace where you took these shots! There is another OS-designated 'level crossing' just (roughly) west of Endon Station (1/4 to 1/2 mile?), which I'd like to go and 'inspect' later in the year. Regards.

Glad you liked it. I fear the restoration of the line to Stoke will never happen now. You may be interested in another video I did which goes from Froghall to Denstone via Alton: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaOVepuonq5-qM0

I'm of the same thinking - where are they going to ge the monies from? At least a couple of £million I would have thought to replace the existing line and secure it from the usual vandals etc.

I walked the line in 1991, all complete and nothing too overgrown. My photos can be viewed on fb Stoke on Trent Past and Present.

Went from Stoke to Cheddleton on a DMU trip Autumn 1982. Obviously the sand trains from Oakamoor were still running then.

I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for loading!! Any sign of activity in reopening even part of this line?

Thanks. No signs I'm afraid; they seem to have given up on the plan, at least for now.

This needs to be reopened, i remember when they dug up the second track

+n moughton I think they've shifted their attention to opening the line between Leekbrook and Leek. I think the Stoke line will be a long way into the future, if ever.
@UkStormer798 жыл бұрын
+cjh30003 They could reopen this line because I have heard that the line will reopen in the future because leekbrook junction connects directly to stoke station and the tracks are there but I think this is a rumour.
@TheJask1014 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it would pay from a heritage point of view ,where as something towards Alton towers stands a much higher chance .
