This is my first time hearing Leela James. I like the "smokie" soulful tone of her voice. I haven't noticed whether you have reacted to any Janet Jackson videos. I think if you haven't already heard her music that you might like it. Black Cat, Rhythm Nation, What Have You Done For Me Lately, and Nasty are all my favorites from her.

Leela tried to tell em but they wouldn’t listen! Drama, materiel things and songs to twerk by is the norm on popular R&b/hip/hop stations, but Neo Soul artist bring it, the soul, the messages, the real instrumentation, but black music lovers don’t wanna here it, it’s boring to them. But through all of the artist from them until now we have new artists like H.E.R, Daniel Ceasar, Sir, Alex Isley, Snoh Aleggra that’s bringing a little more creativity to R/B, and it’s slowly creeping in to popular R/B. And all the Neo Soul artist that paved the way , from Erykah and Jill , To Musiq and India.Arie, To Anthony Hamilton and Leela herself all are are still here making real good music for those few who will listen...
