Thanks for these videos. There was nothing in the booklet provided by Halfords to explain how to use the battery alongside the gears (being a complete novice I need to know). I've just been out on mine and I stopped at the bottom of a hill then couldn't get going again despite being on battery control and you explained that the wheel needs to do a couple of turns before it detects anything. Ended up pushing my electric bike up the hill which was pretty embarrassing!! There are a lot of hills in Lancashire too and I am SO envious of all the cycling tracks you appear to have in Devon. Learning to ride a bike in traffic is quite daunting.

I picked up my Carrera vengeance e-spec 8 weeks ago, absolutely love it. I've cycled it more in last 8 weeks than I've cycled in the last 6 years. My wife has been looking at the Pendleton e-bike and after watching your video will order her new bike in the spring. It will be great to go out on runs together. We live at the top of the highest hill in town and quite frankly its embarrassing having to push our "old" bikes the last quarter mile😩. Honestly, I don't understand why anyone would spend £1000 on a bike without electric assist, it's the future. Great video👍. Thanks.

Been thinking about a Ebike since using a friends STELLA eBike in Holland, although its very flat there, I immediately felt the benefit of that assist when you need it. The present bike I have is a Giant , which is quite heavy and I being almost 78, we are not very good together anymore, so I will now succumb to the inevitable. Love the Video and I am now convinced that this is the one I will go for, so thank you

Just under the control panel is a button and if you have to walk with the bike you can hold that button it will power the bike to help you walk along with it! I'm actually selling mine and came across your video as had a buyer asking me about it I've sent him a link to both of your vids on it! I recently bought one of these bikes. I turn on the electric power for going uphill but otherwise just use leg power. On first turning on the electric power, the control panel has two flashing lights, the low and high assist indicators both winking simultaneously. Does anybody know what this means, please? I cannot find it in the instruction book.

Thanks for the video great job, i would like to ask, as a 72-year-old .when and if the battery runs flat whilst your out on the bike, how heavy pain is it to ride it home, say for instance you have extended your ride and your 10 miles from home. The reason i am asking is that I ride about 15 miles roundtrip 3 times a week, and assumed these bikes have a lot more weight to them.Also, i stop to take quite a lot of photo,s is there a prob with the stopping and starting,
@leepspvideo4 жыл бұрын
They are much heavier than a non electric bike and the ride is very relaxed. I wouldn’t want to cycle it more than 5 miles without power and I’m only 48. The gearing does go very low though so it isn’t a strain, just much less efficient.

hi quick question if you can help, thinking of this bike for wife, she has not ridden one since childhood, do you think it would be suitable to re learn on, and do you have to use the gears if just using electric assist if your not putting any effort in yourself regards kev
@leepspvideo4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would think it’s suitable for learning on. Try first without electric on flat ground, when more confident use the lowest power setting. You can use the bike with no effort under pedalling in a low gear, You don’t need to change gear.

Glad you enjoyed it but you must know this bike is the absolute rock-bottom entry point for ebikes. If you are impressed with this then you haven't really compared it with anything else on the market. The price of a decent ebike starts around the £1500 mark, it's a false economy to get anything much cheaper, a reliable motor, battery and gearset are essential.
@leepspvideo5 жыл бұрын
For the price I still continue to be impressed by this bike. The build quality is actually good, yes the bike is heavy and not as responsive as some more expensive bikes. The brakes are very effective. The motor and battery are the same as found on much more expensive bikes. I disagree with it being a false economy, are you certain this will be less reliable than a £1500 bike? Add suspension and hydraulic brakes to a bike and reliability will likely decline. Some of my bikes were entry models and are more than 30 years old.
@jpetermaughan5 жыл бұрын
@@leepspvideo I prefer to spend £750 on an eBike and get started. If it wares out after 5 years I can buy another new bike for £750, with the latest technology. For example, it seems that battery technology is improving all the time. That way I'll have the joy of a new bike twice for my £1500 and at the end of 10 years I'll have a bike that is still only 5 years old.

Hi all. Got his bike for the wife. Can anyone tell me the correct way to charge the battery. The light is green on the charger. Halford never gave my wife the instructions. The light is green on the battery. Does the battery need turned off to charge...
@keithwheeler30493 жыл бұрын
Normal practice is to turn the battery off before charging. When the battery and charger are connected and the wall socket is on the charger will show a red light if the battery is charging. When the battery is topped up the charger will show green. If you are not using your bike during the winter months, remove the battery and store at room temperature. Also give it a booster charge once a month for about 15 minutes. This will help to keep the battery cells in good condition.

@leepspvideo6 жыл бұрын
Hard to say as I was not cycling as I would usually. I was often going up hills for the novelty deliberately under pedalling to let the motor do all the work. When I was more efficient the battery discharged at a very slow rate.
@leepspvideo5 жыл бұрын
Max Pain I think you may have tried a faulty one. My wifes pendleton and our friends one shown in this video is fine freewheeling. I have tried it without using the power at all and its heavier than a normal bike but still fine. If you want to rest your legs you can do that on downhill or on the flat. If you under pedal (use a low gear pedal slowly and put no effort into trying to assist the motor) and you’ll still go 15.5mph and not be tired at the end. I did this in my first Pendleton video after first picking it up and after around a 9 mile journey got back feeling like I hadn’t been cycling much at all. snogger86 My wife is very pleased with the Pendleton. I have no reservations with the quality, the battery life is excellent. We would definitely recommend it. There is not a single permutation of settings that will fix the spongey brakes on my girlfriend's Somerby eBike. I have spent all day trying every possible configuration and yet somehow the brakes are now worse than when I started. How that is possible I will never know. Even when the pads are set firm against the rim the brake lever will travel all the way to the handlebar with ease. Fuck me.
