Victoria Pendleton E Bike review

Not our normal travel blog but this new toy will make exploring a bit more fun in the future!
This vlog is to share my first thoughts after picking up my new Victoria Pendleton E Bike from Halfords. This was bought and not gifted (dreaming of being gifted!)
Some of this review are my experiences and you may have a different service and/or opinion.
I hope this helps if you are considering purchasing an E bike.

There is a "walk assist" mode to help if you are just pushing the bike. Press and hold the mode button. Keep your pressing the mode button to keep the power on whilst walking. Thanks for your video, very useful. The team at Northwich Halfords were very helpful for our test ride. Many thanks Victoria, added this in case you didn't know about walk assist.

I bought mine from Halfords Inverurie They we’re very helpful and told me if I had any problems just to come back with it Ordered basket for front going in tomorrow to get it fitted

I pick mine up in a week really looking forward to it even more now I've watched your KZbin vid. I've bought the basket plus the pannier bag and my local Halfords are fitting both free! So that's a bonus!

We have looked into e-bikes but have not taken the plunge yet. Lovely place to ride bikes and you had superb weather too. 😃 Trev

Halfords do a 6 hour trial for the pendelton, which I'm going to try. The young guy at my local Halfords was really nice. Your right though you expect better for your money at least a quick explanation at the very least 😊

Hi. How did you attach the basket? Mine seemed to be missing some screws and then I checked on Halfords website and it said it wasn't compatible with the Somerby e-bike. Thanks

I had exactly the same and to be honest I thought they were just missing. My husband “made it fit”, he added some extra bolts to it. That’s disappointing that it was sold with the bike but not made to fit.

My daughter is on her 3rd set of brake pads in less than 6 months. Anyone else find that brake pads are an issue? Thanks. Bought from new as a teacher travels less than 6 miles a day!

Oh hiya Kimi! WE bought them Amazon, I did look around and some were over £100 and it was a bit of a risk. These ones were £30 and to be honest they are fine. I was comfortable.... not sure Andy felt the same but the boys were happy! Thank you for watching 🚍🐶🐶x

To be fair,, anyone repared to spend £1,000+ on a bike, it would have been prudent to nip to any H store and sit on one indeed,,try it for a while ,,, I think there is an easy guide manual in the box of accessories with the charger,, I’m sure if you had asked for a demonstration in store that would have happened too,,, my friend has just bought this bike,, she’s loving it big shame about your customer experience,, my local branch is very helpful classic style ,😃 looks great, 👍🏼🌻 oh yeh,, look after teddy 🧸

Thank you, Teddy is good. I did lots of research before buying and to be honest they just could not be bothered in store. It’s not difficult to understand but expect more when you buy a bike. Lots of people have had better experience and I was unlucky with my local store. I’m still very happy with my bike. We are taking it to Switzerland next week

Which Halfords? I had a similar experience at Tottenham Halfords.

We were Nuneaton Halfords. It’s a shame that they don’t seem to care either. I left a google review and they responded with a link for me to speak to someone. I tried and was on hold 5 minutes so I gave in 🤷🏼‍♀️

It comes in a nice dark blue colour too which is probably better for a guy 😊

@@LadyBMotorhomeAdventures Yes it's very similar to a Dutch bike, as such it's unisex. . . . just not in the macho UK (lol). The Dutch style bikes are great A to B bikes, relaxed riding, male or female.

I have 2 of them. One very old now. They are called dutch step throughs. My friend also has one and we go out a lot on them. Never felt like people were saying oh look at those 2 old men on ladies bikes. Go for it you will not look back. One other thing f the battery dies it is fairly easy to fit an aftermarket battery half the price of the halfords ones. John

Halfords in Bromborough (Wirral) are just as bad, don’t have the things you need, even though says in stock on line and the general attitude of the staff is one of ‘can’t really be bothered’.

Numerous bad reports from Halfords they should seriously sort out customer service.

Cheap components. Unfortunately they tend to throw up more problems. If you can learn to reset brakes, gears and fix other minor problems (usually not rocket science) then such bikes can give very good service. I bought a cheaper bike than the Pendleton and it's been fine. Sure I have to adjust the brakes every two weeks, the derailuer has misaligned a few times, other minor niggles but none have taken more than 10 minutes to sort out. I get that not everyone is mechanically minded. There's plenty of help on youtube though.
