This is exactly right! People always say “oh ‘perfectionist’ is a compliment!” No. Perfectionism is concrete shoes, and ADHD is the ocean. 😑 I’m really happy that more and more influential people are talking about it and normalizing it.

it is truly wild- I remember how growing up ADHD meant hyperactive, couldn't sit still, etc and finding out now how it's missed in a LOT of girls because it's more often not physical but mental hyperactivity and not as obvious.. its a bummer. Tiktok has opened a LOT of people's eyes to it, and even though it's later in life it really has been helpful!

Will be 41 in April and also nuerospicy , the last 6 yrs my life and health have been in shambles, lost both parents, 4 months ago my dog ( whom was actually my late fathers ) also got really sick really fast and we had to make the gut wrenching choice to give him peace. Left a job to try and jump start a new career then covid derailed it all. Became a death doula, but that hasn’t gone as expected and now I’m back in the non profit world, even though I swore I’d never go back. Finally have health insurance so I can sort myself out. Anyway, It’s good to see you pop up, I’ve been watching you since I think you might have lived in TX, if I remember correctly, you were the one that actually got me into makeup and fun colors! Give yourself some grace and kindness, if all you do is show up and share a little bit of your life, that’s more than ok!

I’ve been subscribed for a longggg time, and I had always felt like I could really relate to you, which makes sense as I am also now navigating a late ADHD diagnosis 😅 it has simultaneously made my perfectionism make so much more sense and also make it feel really overwhelming to overcome. I know it really helps me to remind me to give myself some grace and meet myself where I’m at everyday. It’s much easier said then done and can be so scary but we are our own biggest critic. Just wanna recommend a book that helped me with insane perfectionism, it’s a book called “when perfect isn’t good enough” and I’ll be honest, I read it so long ago I don’t remember details and I only read half the book… because it worked for me. 15years later I do still set high standards for myself sometimes, but I’m still not a perfectionist anymore.

Started watching you when my parents first got a computer and put it in the living room for us all the share. I remember religiously following your Tokio Hotel tutorial, which was a magical culmination of three things I found most important as a middle school girl. (Makeup, Tom Kaulitz and you, lol!)
