I'm so sorry for your friend. Canada boasts about free healthcare but no one points out it's very bogged down. Sometimes you'll have to wait months for a simple appointment or date for a surgery. I heard it's like that in some European countries also.

Here's a comparison of Canada and India across some key quality of life factors: Cost of Living: - Canada generally has a higher cost of living, especially in major cities like Toronto and Vancouver. Rent, groceries, and consumer goods tend to be more expensive. - India has a lower overall cost of living, making it more affordable for the average citizen. Jobs and Economy: - Canada has a more stable and prosperous economy, with a lower unemployment rate and higher average wages. - India has a larger workforce but also higher income inequality and a larger informal economy sector. Education: - Canada's education system is generally regarded as higher quality, with more access to post-secondary institutions and better educational outcomes. - India has made significant strides in education access, but quality can vary widely between regions and income levels. Very high cost of education right from KG to higher studies Healthcare: - Canada has a universal public healthcare system that provides coverage for all citizens, though wait times can be long for certain procedures. - India's healthcare system is more fragmented, with a mix of public and private options. Access and quality can be challenging, especially for lower-income populations. Environment and Pollution: - Canada has lower levels of air and water pollution overall compared to the severe pollution issues faced in many Indian cities. - India struggles with high levels of air pollution, waste management, and environmental degradation in rapidly growing urban areas. Overall, Canada tends to rank higher in global quality of life indexes due to its higher standards of living, stronger economy, and more robust public services. However, India has been making progress and offers a lower cost of living that can be appealing for some. The quality of life experience can vary greatly by individual circumstances in both countries.

Interesting podcast. I lived in AB from 2002 to 2013. Then moved back to India for 2 years. Worked with one of the big 4 and then one fine day decided to come back to Canada. Now in La Belle province - Quebec. While Canada is good. All said and done there is hardly any innovation in Canada especially in the tech. sector. People go around in circles and end up being realtors, mortgage brokers, construction field etc., I think that's where the money is. India, Ireland and US are the top 3 countries if one wants to thrive in the IT sector. Canada unfortunately isn't 😞

both of you are very matured. Specially Nav's take on how Indian parents do anything for their children. Very true. All your views about Canada v/s India are very accurate. I live in Europe and more or less everything is the same here too (rat race in India, balance in the west, lackadaisical doctors in the west etc). One question though: we hear a lot these days about anti-India khalistani elements rearing their heads in Canada. And secondly we also hear/watch a lot about druggies on the loose on the streets of Vancouver, increased crime/homelessness. In you daily lives, how far did these two factors have an impact?

It is true that a significant number of the most polluted cities in the world are located in India. According to the 2022 World Air Quality Report published by IQAir, a Swiss air quality technology company: - 41 of the top 100 most polluted cities in the world are in India. - The top 22 most polluted cities in the world are all located in India. - The Indian capital city of New Delhi is ranked as the most polluted capital city in the world. Some key points: - India has a severe air pollution problem, driven by factors like vehicle emissions, industrial activity, construction, waste burning, and seasonal agricultural burning. - The northern Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana have the highest concentration of polluted cities in the country. - While air quality has improved in some Indian cities in recent years, the overall pollution levels remain dangerously high, posing serious health risks to the population. - Addressing this crisis requires concerted efforts from the government, industries, and citizens to implement robust pollution control measures and shift towards cleaner energy sources and practices. So in summary, yes the data clearly shows that a disproportionately high number of the world's most polluted cities are located within India, highlighting the scale of the air pollution challenge the country faces.

Sir, it was a makeshift setup in India. My professional studio is in Canada. I had two options: either not bring the stories I shot in India or present them with the best quality I could manage. I chose the latter. The quality will improve in the next podcast. Stick around!
