Great video! Here is a tip for bearing installing: keep the new bearings wrapped and put them in the freezer the night before install and they slide right in because the freezer shrinks them up and they r easy too install, give it a try and u will be happily pleased they drop in usually.

Great haul! You might think about getting a pounding block to make some operations easier. Just a tree stump waist high outside the door of your shop would work. The work bench and shed floor don’t really provide enough resistance when you really need to wale on something. I have the base of a cedar tree inside that I use for punching holes in things, setting snaps, grommets, whatever, but it’s only about 14 inches in diameter. Outside I have a locust stump that is much larger. Good to mount an anvil on or railroad track or just a piece of flat steel. Good for flattening bent up steel pieces with a 3lb sledge.

It amazes me how many manufactures put in greasable fittings and the inner seals are still in the bearings, they will get some grease, but not as well if the inner seal is removed :)

Looks like you got a great deal on that haul and plenty of goodies. Excellent job on the walk behind repair. Should be a grey unit for years to come. Thanks for the upload 😎🇺🇸

I'm purchasing a John Deere lawn tractor the seller states the frame is bent, so it's a parts mower. Poor people have poor ways, so I'm going to use my 20 ton bottle jack to try to straighten the frame. :) Good luck with your projects. I enjoy your ingenuity.

Thank you very much. And good luck to you straightening out the frame! How bad could it be though? What in the world happened to a lawn tractor that would bend its frame?!

The same guy who drove over his chainsaw probably backed up into that tractor, or possibly rolled it on a hillside. 😂

A small pic works well and you can drill and tap the side of housing and install a grease fitting. I do all my recondition projects with greasable spindles :) Great job those walk and ride behinds are supper popular these days :)

That Troy bulit mower is a 33 wide cut 5 speed. I had one of those mowers back in the day it had 8.5 I/.c Briggs and Stratton engine the timing belt is a easy to get out of time when you hit a rock or three Root

Next time you do that put the sealed bearings in take the inside seal out that will allow the grease to get to the bank but will not hurt anything all the time

The best way to get the pulley off you use the hook 🪝 end to pry up and using an air chisel with a flat end will help getting the pulley off

Next time freeze the bearing and heat the housing. Freezing it will shrink the bearing and heating up the housing will make it expand making it easier to put them together

The decks are weak, hit something too big and they bend easy, blades hit eachother, etc. I fixed one for a neighbor, hopefully they stop hitting large branches or what not lol

I just got one of these from the curb and put on new belts.. runs great now but even after letting go of the drive clutch it still stays in drive (altho slower). I have to to shut the idle down to kill it/stop it. Im not sure if this is a linkage or transmission problem. Any ideas?

@darrelldubree9658

Copy that :) What i have found out also. The new bearings that are sealed, when you open them up by removing that inner seal, there is very small amount of not high quality grease installed in the sealed bearing. That is why they wont last. I have a drill bit and tap setup, can drill tap and grease spindle in about 5-10 minutes. Spindle will then outlast the rest of the machine. Most homeowners will never grease them anyways :) Lol Thanks again for sharing, keep up the great work. Have a blessed day :) @@Kylebythecreek

Don’t you have a dead blow hammer? Should never use a metal hammer on bearings. it’s a nice mower and shows the repair shop shouldn’t be in business. 4 bearings and done.
