My high school hockey team had a tournament in Canada. On the return flight I was seated next to Alice Cooper. One of the nicest people you'll ever meet! A flight attendant said the pilot heard he was on the plane and wanted to ask if he would take a picture with the flight crew when we landed. He had one condition. When we got to Maine we got a photo with Alice, the flight crew and our hockey team.

Certainly not a childhood moment but when I was in college, at Xavier, I was tossing the baseball with a friend near the dorms. Chris Sabo, former Reds' third baseman, was taking some classes at XU and he was walking by and asked if we could throw a few. So I got to to play catch with a World Series champion. He couldn't have been nicer. And man, that dude put some serious zip on the ball!

I played catch with Terry Metcalf RB of the Toronto Argos back in the 1970's at training camp when I was 12 years old.

last saturday in september 1975 my brother and his friend told me "come with us," not telling me where we were going. a 40 minute car ride and we were in deer lake pennsylvania at Ali's training camp. i was really a Joe Frazier fan, but after watching Ali work out, spar and hit the heavy and speed bags, i knew what an athlete he was. he then said to the crowd to stick around for a tour of the camp after he showered. at the end of the tour he asked the crowd if we had questions. someone asked "what are you going to do to Frazier on monday in Manilla," yes this was days before the Thrilla, he then grabbed me and put me in a head lock to answer the question. i wish everyone had a camera in their pocket then, like they do today, i'm sure i'd have a pic.

Unheralded MLB player, but we loved his hustle and personality in Pittsburgh...Jack Wilson. In his rookie year, I was about 13 years old waiting outside the stadium to try to get any autograph after the games. A bunch went right past me without looking. Jack was in his Jeep with his wife, drove over to me and asked if it was ok if he signed my ball. Always love Jack for this.

I once sent former Dallas Cowboy tight end Doug Cosbie his rookie card to autograph. He kept the rookie card & sent me back a damaged card. 🤣🤣

I was waiting in line for an autograph from Todd Macfarlane with a friend of mine, and we got to the front and we’re about to meet him, and this dude comes right up in front of us, cuts us off and says “hey Todd!” my friend starts to go hey man! what the hell are you doing? and I immediately recognized him…..it was Barry Sanders……lol….I was like, dude, let it go that’s Barry Sanders….he looked at me like I was crazy (he wasn’t a football guy) great moment…..had a quick fun talk with Todd about it after, explaining to my friend just who Barry is……good times…..

@@drexlspivey3047 - No, Dan was at a flag ceremony for World War II overseas. I think it was in Normandy. Some guy came up to him and basically interrupted the somber mood to try to get Dan’s attention. The guy later called into the show to apologize to Dan and explain his side of the store. 🤷🏻‍♂️👍🏻😂

@johnbrowntheprophet I understand that. David was equating the story of Dan being 8 years old and bothering someone and the flag ceremony when both individuals were adults.

I met Leann Warren in 1981 at the NCAA Cross country championships. I talked with her for about ninety seconds and asked her for her autograph. I had brought an index card and an ink pen. She said she needed a hard surface to sign on. I turned around and she used my back. I never washed the jacket I was wearing and never used the pen again. I was smitten, I had such a hard crush on her. We corresponded for a while after that meeting. She sent me her number that she wore on her jersey in a US vs. USSR duel track meet. Needless to say, I was head over heels for this gal.😍😍😍

Arnold Palmer at his own club at Latrobe. 4 of us from Chicago playing as non members and then having dinner. The General Manager seated us next to Arnie’s table of probably a dozen friends, including his wife. The GM said here’s what you do. Order something to drink and maybe an appetizer and Mr. Palmer will probably stop by, which we do. We are yakking it up and suddenly bang there he is standing beside our table. We all jump up and he’s all “sit sit boys thanks for coming out “. Could not possibly have been more casually friendly and genuine. He chats it up for 5 minutes or so and then sits back down with his guests. They are having a ball and so are we. When they leave probably 90 minutes later he walks out with them and then 10 minutes later he’s back at our table chatting it up. He has the waiter send all of the bottles of wine left from his group to our table. It’s comical because there are 8 - 10 bottles for our party of 4. He stays for at least 10 minutes and the whole time he is standing behind me and rather than me awkwardly turn around he puts his hands on my shoulders and he’s squeezing and punctuating the laughter by slapping me on the back. Those legendary steel grip hands. As a side note - we had flown in that morning and it was mid-afternoon by the time we were on the golf course. We look over a couple fairways and sure enough it’s Arnie playing the back 9. We had no idea of the night ahead, so we were totally jacked just to be a hundred yards away from The King. When we got to the halfway house there was no doubt I was having a Rolling Rock, but the gal behind the counter said, “how about a chili dog?” And I said no because I didn’t want to spoil dinner. Then she said, “Palmer had one” and well hell then I had to have one. What a great day.

Best for me was when I met Stipe Miocic at The Arnold Classic back in 2018, worst was maybe when I met some Browns players after a training camp practice when I was a kid, probably was a bad experience cause it was really hot outside and they just wanted to get off the field lol.
