Aluminum and 14C are winners in my book. I like my regular Corgi, but I think this one is light years better.

I wish that this Volsteed Corgi V didn't have that front flipper tab protruding out past the scales. That way, the knife would a more clean look.

looks interesting....good demonstration, thanks...I am a leftie, too...I like the look and will wait a while to see how it evolves. It will make a nice addition to my under 3" knife collection.

The way this one is put together is sweet! They should do this more.

If the nipL ends up being a hollow grind I think it's the best design so far from you guys. I didn't realize it was a button actuateed liner lock. It's gonna be sick. Congratulations on a beautiful knife design. I'm going to try to pick one up.

I think the main reason a lot of them don't jimp around the corner might be that they don't want a jimp landing right on the stop pin because it would deform fast and cause rock. Then the blade is messed up, and other than doing some weird, bigger stop pin, you're screwed or need a new blade. At least, that's my theory on it😊
@wes.killed.it.551126 күн бұрын
That's a logical argument with this specific issue however, with most front flippers the top of the front flipper tab isn't actually the area of the blade that makes contact with the stop pin in the open position; it's usually a separate cut out contact point all together, and if there's an internal stop pin (one that's riding with the blade internally) then that gets rid of the whole issue as well. Plus the stop pins are heat treated and hardened pretty close to the blades that bang into them (53-55 HRC), they should have no issues becoming deformed due to jimping, but still an interesting take on things none the less👍

Got my blue one today. It looks great though I wish it kept the back flipper tab like the old version. It is sooooo much easier to use and looked like dog ears with the front flipper. The action on mine feels like it is scraping along the open and close. Is that how the Vanchor lock is supposed to feel? The button is very recessed when closed and much more prominent when locked open. I can't tell if yours is doing that too. I have been wanting a nicer version of the Corgis and this is doing that for me, I just want that dog ear back flipper tab back!

Got the Titanium Kizer Cormorant XL (V2) in the grey frag pattern , and I am 100% happy. No buyers remorse whatsoever! Also, the Cormorant, is very audible .. very "Pingy, and Tingy" when that button lock engages and locks the blade, theres no question its locked. Has that satisfying reassuring click like a 1911 does when the mag seats in the magwell and the release locks the mag in

The Volsteed Cordi V looks very similar to the HEA Designs Elixir V2, but slightly better designed with a raised jimped top flipper instead of a huge obnoxious flipper tab like on the Elixir👍 I also really like the vanchor pivot button lock system💯🔥

Awesome! Thats a good looking Vosteed. Reminds me a little of the Vosteed Ankylo that dropped. Same mechanism? Or different?

Being an absolute budget, button lock and Vosteed guy, I think I will need to have one of these. $80 for a 5th pocket is a little tough though.
@sloanNYC21 күн бұрын
I'd like it to be $10 cheaper and drop the Vanchor lock to get there. At least the Corgi V I received it isn't as smooth as the button lock Corgis.
@mi_cheap_guns292521 күн бұрын
@ That’s a shame about the Vanchor lock, I really was looking forward to checking it out. I’m with you though about the Corgis, the button and action is very smooth on the ones I own.
@sloanNYC21 күн бұрын
@@mi_cheap_guns2925 It may just be mine too or maybe they break in. But it feels like it is rubbing the whole action opening or closing. Not sure if that's how it is "supposed" to feel. But the flipper is just so much worse I personally wouldn't buy this style again. Bring back the dog ears! If you can try one first or ask someone else how theirs works, it easily could just be me. I seem to have bad luck.

@@sloanNYC If it wasn’t a Vosteed and a version of a button lock, I wouldn’t be all that interested. I actually would prefer to try out the Ankylo or whatever it’s called to try out the vanchor lock, but it’s a little out of my typical price range. I agree with you about the look of the flipper, seemed strange to look square on one side and not the other. Now that I think about it, I probably would prefer that Corgi Pup that’s $89 with the Damascus blade for similar money. I like the no screws look and deeper carry clip, but usually prefer micarta and G10 over aluminum. Thanks for your personal opinion on it, means more than reviewers that got it for free.

The vanchor is always intriguing and I’ll end up with this one too. But as a whole I’ve been underwhelmed with my Vosteeds. Satisfied, but not impressed (if that makes sense)
@SteelAddicted27 күн бұрын
I can understand that, especially with the ankylo. It's not the most satisfying knife to flip imo. None of the flipping options r done well it just has all the options, which usually means none will be done exceptionally well imo.
@ProjeKt_Mayhem27 күн бұрын
@ exactly! Was really looking forward to that one. Feels kind of chalky when I flip it
@SteelAddicted27 күн бұрын
@ yeah a lot like the finish on the scales it sounds so odd to say that but it’s true if u flip it u feel it it’s chalky not gritty or like the bearings r dirty it’s like it’s rubbing on that finish the aluminum has. I wonder if this corgi is the same way.
@tricky4826 күн бұрын
@@SteelAddicted I am pretty sure it's not the bearings... I believe that is because the mechanism still rides against the base of the blade unless the button is depressed all the way. I can't remember part names, but I remember looking up the deconstruction vids of it, and seeing that. Possibly the lock bar and the magnetic piece that keeps it in place? I can't remember if it was Lefty's or a different YTer, but it was clear enough that that would happen. Flipping, obviously, won't separate the two. BUT, when I have the button completely depressed, it's smooth as silk. There is still, something, even with the button pressed all the way in, but it's *much* less prominent. Enough to feel that hint of chalkiness, but the pendulum swing is still happening. I think it's just something I accepted as the price of having that lock, and I immediately got over it. I love my Ankylo and I tend to reverse flick it, anyway lol. Which is, for me, very solid and satisfying. TBH, I got the Ankylo to be a hard use EDC, moreso than a fidget piece, so it's more than satisfactory for my needs. It's a beefy knife. Hell, the Vanchor is the only reason I got this Corgi last night. I have no love for plunge locks, so even though I love the idea and execution of both the mini and the full sized Corgi, I just didn't want to deal with a Plunge lock. Seeing the Vanchor was offered, changed that lol. The flips look fine on both Lefty's and the other reviewers I have seen, so I am just going to see how it is... but I am pretty confident it will be good.
@SteelAddicted26 күн бұрын
@ I agree with u well said. I bought the ankylo after seeing doody cut test it and I knew it would be a great work knife and it has been. The flipping and chalky feeling r not a deal breaker at all imo just an observation. I hope they can smooth it out as they keep using this lock system and if I had to guess I’d say this corgi will be smoother in that regard. I would much rather have this lock than a plunge lock anyway especially if it’s a user knife I honestly want use a plunge lock button lock as a work knife.
