Got mine yesterday and the detent is actually too savage. Had a hard time opening it with two hands out of the box. I think it needs a little tear down and bent the lock bar deal, and a little lube on the detent track. Cut the shit out of my ring finger playing with it yesterday.

S390 is close to t15 steel and is vanadis 30 equivalent. It has great toughness to hardness ratio. Up to 68 hrc. So it can be darn hard.

They really just needed one more jimp at the top of the flipper. He got it right on the Padre so it's weird that they missed on this one. Otherwise, I really love the Gringo. btw, they list it at 6.27 oz, but it only weighs about 5.9 oz.

After you pointed it out I noticed that the Primo and the S Tao 2 both have "lefty" models listed, but the clip is reversable🤔 with that being said if the clip is reversable why would you need a lefty model?

I love large hefty knives. I was gifted an Elementum II and a Pyrite. Both are too light in the hand, have weak detents, and therefore actuating them is not satisfying at all. Just dainty blades that flip out like a limp D. 😂 I want a heavy large blade, crispy detent, and a nice “thwack!” when opening.

Roman Kase does s390 at 68HRC and its still tough enough to smash into an anvil repeatedly. I dont truly think any production company at ALL properly heat treats and cryo treats their steels. But id love to be proven wrong.
