And people say Doom 3 is "slow". Not as slow, as searching for all those stupid blue, red, and yellow keys in the fisrt two games. All those people need to see your video and stop saying nonsense. Doom 3 is a perfect shooter game, in which you are rewarded for being skillful. It really is up to the player, how fast the game plays. The shotgun only does insane damage by hugging the enemy, because the game is designed in a way for you to get close and run fast. Anyway, great content, dude!
@lekolega5 ай бұрын
I agree. I really did not enjoy playing through the original Dooms because of their maze-like level design. I am not sure why but it just didn't work for me, regardless of the "faster" pace. As for Doom 3, yeah, exactly what you say. The game definitely allows you to play fast, surprisingly fast. You can bet on the fact that a lot of the people who have this opinion of Doom 3 being a slow game never even gave it a chance. Their opinions were tainted by watching other people review and say that they don't like it, so they just formed the same opinion. It is a popular opinion to hate Doom 3 so people just hop on that train because they don't wanna be the not cool guy who maybe even likes it. Maybe this video will change someone's opinion. Probably not, but I would love that 🙂

Hmmm... is it really faster to manually remove toxic barrels and not press the auto button?
@lekolega11 ай бұрын
if you press auto then the crane will take the barrel, throw it down the hole and return to exactly where it was when you pressed auto. that loses a bit of time compared to just manually doing it and then having control over the crane immediately after desposing the 1st barrel and not letting the crane go too far towards you again since the 2nd barrel is a bit further.

How do you have the Soul Cube so early in the game?
@lekolega8 ай бұрын
I see you never dared to play on Nightmare. Do it! It is just there by default on Nightmare difficulty to help with maintaining HP since there are no health pickups, only health stations and Soul Cube. Generally it is a good balance implementation for Nightmare but when speedrunning it is slightly broken. But that is what you want as a speedrunner, to break and abuse 🫠

Is your movement speed faster than in a normal game due to 240fps?
@lekolega5 ай бұрын
Great question! Slightly, yes. This run is not posted anywhere on speedrun.com for that reason. Generally, the higher fps mostly affects physics in such a way that I can get more momentum when performing the 2nd jump in a bunny hop sequence. But it works in a weird way, unlike other games with similar movement tech. The only example where I (ab)used this is at 1:00:06. You can see that I don't perform 2 strafe jumps, but rather jump while only tapping forward a bit, and that for some reason just throws me forward on the 2nd jump so I can land on that little ledge without taking damage. This jump is impossible (without takimg dmg) on 60fps with the vanilla movement speed cap. I could have done the run without this but I think it was way cooler like this. Not to mention that this was difficult to pull off and then finish the level without taking damage.
@Vitek_235 ай бұрын
@@lekolega Thank you! I tried to jump over the bridge in Delta 3 and jump to the invisible platform in Hell, but it looked very difficult and I couldn't do it at 60fps. But anyway, I know how hard it is not to take damage at any speed. 🙂 This is definitely a good run! 👍
@lekolega5 ай бұрын
@@Vitek_23 No problem. Those 2 can be done on 60fps. But they are a bit difficult in the original game if you don't know how to strafe jump. A lot easier in the BFG Edition, though.

@HooDFoX202120 күн бұрын
I was wrong I think; just the spawn in from the imp that gave the damage effect. But it was ALMOST the zombie arm.
@lekolega20 күн бұрын
@@HooDFoX2021 Well you pretty much answered your own question there 😃. You can see the health in the HUD go up by 5 without interruption as the soul cube heals me. If I got hit, you would have definitely seen it go down to like 5-10hp since you take 350% damage on Nightmare and a basic zombie can cripple you in 1 hit. Plus, when you take melee damage, your screen always shakes. The only place I do take damage in the run is at the end of Recycling, which unfortunately can't be skipped or avoided since the air is toxic. There is also a funny thing that can happen in Doom 3. Sometimes doomguy can make a pain sound indicating that he took damage but the health and armor remain the same. It generally happens when you are positioned just outside of range of a projectile's splash damage, like an imp fireball. I had that happen in some of my unused attempts but I chose to redo levels so they are as clean as possible because it would have looked fishy and cheated.

How do you bunny hop like that?
@lekolega3 ай бұрын
Doom 3 has physics like Quake 3, but with slower movement speed and a stamina bar. If you can manage the stamina by releasing sprint mid air, you can keep sprinting and bunnyhopping for a long time. On top of that, this run was played on the dhewm3 sourceport on 240fps, which makes the physics a bit weird and gives me extra distance when jumping after landing sometimes. examples: 19:18, 1:00:08

@@BobrLovr It is not the same as in Half Life. You need to hold forwards and a strafe key to perform strafejumps and bunny hops and source engine games have you hold only the strafe keys if I am not mistaken. Glad you enjoy the runs. ❤️ This probably feels smoother because it is a segmented run, so there is no saving or loading, and there are a lot less mistakes. Also, because this is no damage, I can't really do rocketjumps so some of the big skips are impossible. But it's ok, I had fun making this run and it felt a lot more traditional.
