GW have not ignored them. In fact, 12 hours ago they released PDFs of each legacy faction approximately 25 pages in length.

Regarding turn 1 :) Units failing stupidity moves during the compulsary sub-phase so before all other units move (so the general couldn't block the cold-ones)

I visited them last week to play 40k and caught the ‘old world’ bug…i bought a small force of Lizardmen after Luka and Steve talked it up so much. Watched Steve play a game against a Mitch i met there (legend of a guy)… their game was amazing to watch live.

Stupidty movement happens in compulsary movement, not remaining moves. Therefore, the Carnosaur should not have been able to block the cold ones or go within 1" of it unless they have no other choice.

Quick little pointer on Stupidity: The rule no longer says you have to move the full movement of the unit. That was the case in previous versions of WHFB, but it's not stated for TOW. TOW stupidity just says the unit has to move forward, without performing any manouvers. You don't get to choose where they go, but you do get to choose how far. Fly units also get to choose if they fly or walk. Another difference from WHFB: They DON'T enter combat if they stumble into a unit. They stop 1" away. Only units with random move values get to do that. That caught me out for a few games. I'm rubbish at passing Ld tests on my Vampire+Dragon and hat of Stupid. XD Not finished the video yet, but I'm assuming it's the usual high quality! The minis are certainly gorgeous. Edit: And a Warband one: The Nit modifies their own Ld - So you can test on: The unit's OWN Ld+their OWN ranks OR Inspiring presence + if the general has Warband, any ranks in the General's unit. You don't use Inspiring Presesnce and then add the unit's own Ld.

The clan rats against the saurus first combat could of gone very different I believe Luca, don't spears when charged give you +1 initiative, so your skaven would have struck first. Unless i'm missing something?

Don’t think that you are able to block compulsory stupidity moves by moving in front of the unit. The stupidity movement would come in the compulsory movement sub-phase, right? This falls before the regular movement sub-phase, so wouldn’t the stupidity movement go first?

Forgot closed order on the stormvermin when calculating combat res on the turn they fell back. That, among many other things already pointed out by others, could have changed alot. I feel the skaven were robbed a bit in this one. Or, as someone mentioned, betrayed.... 🧟‍♂️

I didn't say it's objectively and universally bad, I said I'm not a fan of it and I have plenty enough information to make that judgement for my personal tastes. If you think I need to burn 50 bucks on a book I don't want and a few dozen hours of games on a system I find unappealing to be entitled to say I'm not a fan of it, then I don't know what to tell you.

I play lizards in 6th with an oldblood general; back then this comparatively low (as in, Beastman general low) leadership was justified by needing to balance the very powerful coldblooded rule. And even back then, with the old coldblooded rules, a -2 or -3 break modifier was harsh. Now that coldblooded doesn't work on break test, it's unjustified to have one of your lord options lock your elite army on Ld8. The changes to break checks in the universal rules don't justify this either, since those rules changed for everybody. I think the change to coldblooded is fine, it's the oldblood remaining stuck on ld8 that is silly.

Men I'm enjoying this so much. On the other hand I have to be honest, It seems that a little bit of the idea of "more terrain" that is commonly a good thing in 40k (and I assume AOS) hast wrongfully translated to TOW. Rank & File games shoulden't be so heavy on terrain in the middle of the board. Armies that formed in rank & file tended to search for open battlefields, were the terrain features where on the sides helping sometimes protect week flanks if possible. Battle of magnesia is a good example.

The Skaven can only choose one out of Warlock Engineer, Master Assassin or Plague Priest per 1000 points. So you can not take two out of that list in 1500 points - I guess you treated the restrictions as per the 2000 point limit?

Now I am of course bias, as I was a Lizardmen player. But I don't think the old Cold Blooded rule was overpowered and this new version is very disappointing considering the army didn't drop in points at all. It should have ATLEAST stayed on Break Tests. It's especially egregious when you consider the army is actually fairly low leadership. Everyone always thinks of Saurus and are like "Ooooh that's so good" forgetting that Skinks are all 5 and 6 Leadership and Skinks make up the MAJORITY of armies if you are including anything beyond basic Infantry and Cavalry. Your Monsters? With the exception of Carnosaurs and Troglodon's (Oracles are Leadership 8 for some reason) all taking Break Tests on Leadership 5 or 6 now. You better hope your Stegadon or Bastiladon win combat, because if they don't you have almost no shot at staying in the fight now, and a really tough time rallying.

I get that it’s not a supported list, but it’s the only army I have playable right now. Nerfed cold-blooded, loss of temple guard bunkers, lots of 0-1 restrictions, significant price bumps on Saurus, Salamanders requiring point blank range? At first glance it feels hard to compete against the other army lists out there. I neither expect nor want to be dominant, but I’d like to do more than run away.

Given the BSB is in range, can you not use that ability for stupidity tests? I dont have the rules, but i thought BSB allowed any leadership related re-rolls? Refering to the first 2 turns

So Ive only been playing warhammer 40K, can someone explain the shooting mechanics of fantasy? The ratling gun rolls for number of shots, then rolled for number of hits, then did it again, then rolled for the wound?

He had 10 shots and chose to roll them in 2 lots of 5, needing 7s (which to roll 7s in TOW, is a 6 followed by a 4+)

Ratmen are classic. GW better bring them back in Old World. Good vid but I would personally prefer more closeups of the miniatures so we can check them out. The arbitrary game mechanics are less interesting...more closeups of he miniatures please. Why even bother painting them and creating all this beautiful artistic terrain if you don't showcase it? WH the game is sorta boring to watch.

The Old World is the re-release of Warhammer, what TWW is based on. Age of Sigmar comes "later" in the timeline. So Total War Warhammer = The Old World, not AoS. They are just using some AoS models because they're basically the same in most instances, minus the basing issues.

Warhammer The Old World is set in the same universe as Total War Warhammer AND AOS technically. Originally it started out as Warhammer Fantasy battles and due to The End Times, the universe turned into what AOS is today. Total War Warhammer is based off of Warhammer Fantasy and now The Old world is set in the Past of the Warhammer Fantasy timeline.

So I played my first game of this today, since the game died so long ago. 2000pts of Greenskins vs 2000pts of Vampires. My biggest take away was that it felt boring and I struggled to figure out why. I never felt that way about it before. Most of the rule changes were for the better. I realized that I felt that way because the combats felt very pillow fisted. Relatively little dice are thrown most of the time, it was difficult to kill things, so the game state felt very stale. Maybe it was bad rolls, maybe it was the matchup, maybe it was the list, maybe it was the drastic difference after playing Conquest this last year. I'm gonna try a few more games on Saturday.

I wish Lizardmen had stronger rules. Changes to cold-blooded were unnecessary. Love seeing them, but I'm not gonna invest in them unless GW grow up and give the Lizardmen the love they deserve. Not counting on that, though.

You forgot the cold blooded rule for the lidership test of the lizardmen. They roll three dices and discard the highest result.

Is it ok to use non old world bases since the blast templates hit the bases and not the models ? Maybe the trays should have markings to show how the unit would be on new bases.

We have an empty movement tray off to the side for accurate measuring off the table. We do this even with proper base sizes for more accuracy!

It's the way Organ Guns and Ratling Guns shoot: Roll 2 artillery dice. 1 missfire = -1 to hit. 2 missfires = roll on the blackpowder missfire chart.
