Thanks for the video Madam. I wonder what length Apple goes to to verify the validity of a Death Certificate?

You’re welcome Bushchannel! This is an excerpt from Apple’s support page. “After the user’s death, Legacy Contacts sign in to the Apple claim website to initiate access. This requires a death certificate and is authorized in part with the authorization secret mentioned in the previous section. After all the security checks are completed, Apple issues a user name and password for the new account and releases the necessary keying information to the Legacy Contact”. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. One thing I may add, for your viewers that are very new to technology they may have larger text on their screen therefore to see the “legacy contact” they may not see it at the bottom of their screen. They would have to scroll down. I know very simple but from experience this has been an issue. 😃

@@MM1-so5vl It doesn't seem as if Apple has clarified that... Here's the support article telling you what your legacy contact has access too. support.apple.com/en-us/HT212362

When I followed the instructions after choosing my contact it just took me to their contact page and I could go on further! If I went back I had to choose a contact and the same happened again!!

Hi Peter, try tapping on the method you want to notify them by and it should take you to the next step. You can tap messages, their email address or phone number. Hope that helps.

@@EllensTipsForiOS I did touch the phone number and that worked, maybe its worth mentioning on your video as I fid manage to get there in the end but it would have been useful to know when I started. Thank you for your reply

You’re welcome! When I created the video you didn’t need to take that step it was automatically done for you and seems as if Apple has changed it. Thanks for watching.

I’ve added a legacy contact, but what is the access key? I can’t seem to see what an access key is.
@EllensTipsForiOS2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bernie! The access key is what is sent to your Legacy Contact so they can access your account after you’ve passed. To see the access key go to Settings>Password and Security>>Legacy Contact. Tap on the name of your contact and tap view access key.
