Just received mine today. He was never my favorite character but I must admit the engineering of this figure is amazing. Most of these bug modes are flimsy af. Tarantulas here is rock solid. Great video Emgo!

Despite having 30-some Kenner Beast Wars figures as a kid, I only had Blackarachnia and no Tarantulas so this figure is a godsend. My only gripe is they didn't use some yellow/gold paint on the sides of his legs even though they sculpted in the impressions for it. Guess I'll try to color match best I can with my acrylics, nice review as always EmGo.

Y'know, the first time I saw this guy, I was expecting him to be a retool of Blackarachnia. Seeing this though, I am pleasantly surprised that's not the case! Definitely considering picking him up when I see him.

Honestly looks like he's taken some inspiration from kingdom Scorponok. To different where I'd call him a retool, but certainly Scorponok was probably on the table while the engineers were figuring his transformation out.

His legs collapse a bit farther in in spider mode. The purple bits on his knees will recess slightly into the spider shell so most of the yellow on his legs disappears into the body, and the feet will solidly peg into the pegs inside the shell. It makes for a very, very solid body and holds the weapon very firmly in place. It's kinda tricky, and feels like you need to use an awful lot of force. I've seen some folks say the spider shell bit doesn't quite peg in all the way on some of them and it makes it harder to do the legs.

I honestly wonder if there's ever a moment when a Transformers Collector looks at their collection and see a spider beastformer before going "Ah, a spider!" Probably not the case considering the size, the coloration, the potential kibble it has and the placement in the collection for the figure. But it is just a thought.

The collector, probably not. The collector's wife, most definitely. Especially when the collector purposely poses it in an unexpected spot. Or so I've heard. lol

Since we finally got the beast wars season 1 crew,I hope for the transmetal designs to get new figures,or a characters from the original toyline or the idw 2006/2021 comics,like polar claw(he sadly got cancelled from kingdom),and nyx,skold and scourge,bonecrusher,spittor and B'boom etc....

Still looking for arachnid. Beast Wars figures have been so darn good! I crack up that you are one of the only reviewers who pointed out the only odd thing in design on the arms. The figure is outstanding overall in both modes but the elbows are weird. I also cracked up as you changed from Prime’s voice to BW Megatron in the skit. Funny.

I got mine 2 weeks ago or 3, and i am really so happy in having my beasties first time in life. I adored Tarantulas , and how it feels on the hand. Just Inferno to go, and I am done. WFC was a damn ride , in a good way. I did not notice the Predacon on the leg, until you brought it out. o.o Seriously, we need a short collection of your.....shorts xD Also, loved that megatron changing to OTHER mgatron impression xDXD

Just got invoiced for this guy from the online store I buy most of my Transformers from nowadays. Then all I need is Inferno, and I'll finally have a complete set of Beast Wars Season 1 characters 25 years later. On an only vaguely related note, I was looking at my Kingdom G1 Inferno and, not for the first time, thought "What the hell ARE those wings on the side of his head? Purely a weird aesthetic choice, or some little known feature of Japanese firetruck design?"
