Hyldens hate Elder, because he ordered Ancients to start religious crusade against them. How ironic is that Ancients became target themselves when Elder had Moebius turn humanity against them. And of course Elder's real worry is Kain, the Scion of Balance who is destined to kick his ass.

@momo Kain can only be killed with the Soul Reaver. As the chosen Scion of Balance he doesnt need his corrupted heart (also Raziel heals him physically and mentally)

BlacK40k actually no. Kain did need Janos’ black heart to survive. What made him wake up was Raziel purifying the reaver. As Ariel stated: “It is accomplished: the Forge summons the spirit of every balance guardian itself for this final purpose”. Even Kain confirms that he, a balance guardian, felt strongly drawn, compelled even, not to linger in Avernus, but to return to the Vampire Citadel at once. He himself questions how was it possible that he still lived when his Heart was ripped out of his corpse.

Why should he? The Hylden serve him much the same as the Vampires, Moebius, and everyone else. They just don’t know it.

Do you guys know that the textures of the Spirit Reaver are literally made up of _smiling faces_ ? Just learned this after downloading the textures from memory via TexMod. When Ariel said "rendered pure by Spirit", I never thought she meant enveloping the Reaver with faces of euphoric Balance Guardians. (O_o) lol.

You know, if the hylden didn't try to kill all the other races using The Device during the war I would've rooted for them. They just didn't want to worship the elder god. Which is fair, to hell with the elder god lol

I remember playing Defiance after beating Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2. The controls and gameplay were so satisfying in this third installment.

Raziel has all the boss fights in this game. Kain is like easy mode. Also, the gameplay in Defiance is so much fun. Defiance gameplay + Soul Reaver 1 world design + Soul Reaver 2 plot revelations would be a masterpiece!

I m playing this game almost 5 years. The 2 first years couldnt even reach janos. :P You need only to aim him when channeling :). One shot and he s down, rdy for some extra hits :P

Neurotic Arts I believe that the timeline this battle takes place in is the BO2 timeline, where the Hylden Lord uses Janos's body to fuel the Device, defeats the younger Kain, and is later usurped by him and destroyed in the Hylden City when Kain reclaims the Soul Reaver from him.

I love LoK, but its kinda insane how underpolished Defiance really is. Even for 2003, that boss health bar looks like beta features, and the animations don't seem to line up with appropriate sound effects, along with the Camera being god awful. I mean this is the finale of Raziel's story, and we get a final boss where the strongest parts of Ozar Midrashrim aren't even there and the tornados from the boss just blips out of existence. It really looks like the fight was put together in a day. I'm glad we got the game for the narrative, but it clearly could have used more time in the oven. I hope if there is ever a remaster, some of the issues will be ironed out

momo xmomox the hylden lord will not kill janos or his heart because later then he imprisoned janos to feed the device(bloodomen2) which the hylden lord created,all these events are happening because of kain manipulating time and using raziel.

i know but old kain is currently in bloodomen2 timeline and janos possesed is the hylden lord which younger kain eventually kill in the end.

I don't think that's the same hylden lord in defiance because in blood omen 2 vorador was alive and in defiance and blood omen 1 he is dead blood omen 2 is utterly non cannon

Blood omen2 is canon remember that kain has the power to resseruct the dead, he did resseruct raziel and his brethren so i assume he did the same thing to vorador.
