4 GE-9X engines are adequate for an aircraft with an MTOW of 800 tonnes. OEW would be about 320 tonnes, and be able to carry upto 320 tonnes of cargo, or a similar amount of fuel within an 800 tonne total. The main gear would have 6 axles each side for a total of 24 wheels. The nose gear would have 4 wheels. It would be capable of both bulky loads like cars, or heavy loads like transformers. The belly would have positions for temporary legs to load heavy loads until they are positioned between the main gear. The main cargo space would be hexagonal in shape to give more thickness to the fuselage at the wings/main gear. The floor and ceiling would be 8 metres wide, the ceiling 7 metres off the floor. At mid-height, it would be 11 metres wide. The cargo space would be at least 60 metres long to fit 4 NATO F-35 aircraft. As a car carrier, it could carry them 4 wide, 4 high, and atleast 12 long - for about 200 vehicles whose maximum weight would be 320 tonnes including the vehicle racks. It could carry the main fuselage sections and wings of a 777X. We should expect to see a cargo plane of this size with perhaps 100 units produced for civilian and military applications. It would look rather like the AN-225 whose MTOW was 640 tonnes.

How about rebuilding her as європейська мрія, the European dream, with 6x Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Let's hope this war ends soon with the total collapse of the Russian economy. Ukraine has already applied for EU membership so let's get working on that 🙂 I hear that three Volga-Dnepr AN-124's are stuck in Leipzig because of the sanctions. Hopefully, those will go to Antonov Airlines as a start of reparations.

Ukrainian artillery which bombarded the Russian-held airfield has hit and destroyed the AN-225, as follows from photos. Russias took the airfield in air assault, and during it thr hangar was undamaged. So, maybe be angry at idiots in Ukrainian armed forces who can't aim, or didn't care. Also, it was Soviet space program, and Antonov was Soviet aircraft design bureau at the time, not Ukrainian. Same goes for all other design bureaus of Soviet era, regardless of location.

Oh man... that really sucks. I didn't know the AN-225 was destroyed. I had an opportunity to tour the AN-225 many years ago at the Dubai International Airshow, and it was seriously awe inspiring. What a shame.

I have seen and even have pictures with the AN124 but the AN225... A plane I have always wanted to see in person, but never have. Sad day in aviation history. Let's hope we get a chance to see the 325 or something similar in the near future.

Was the second, partially finished one destroyed too because if it survived the AN-225 could fly again. From what i heard its been kept in decent condition and afew months ago was offered financing from a Chinese company to finish it
