4 GE-9X engines are adequate for an aircraft with an MTOW of 800 tonnes. OEW would be about 320 tonnes, and be able to carry upto 320 tonnes of cargo, or a similar amount of fuel within an 800 tonne total. The main gear would have 6 axles each side for a total of 24 wheels. The nose gear would have 4 wheels. It would be capable of both bulky loads like cars, or heavy loads like transformers. The belly would have positions for temporary legs to load heavy loads until they are positioned between the main gear. The main cargo space would be hexagonal in shape to give more thickness to the fuselage at the wings/main gear. The floor and ceiling would be 8 metres wide, the ceiling 7 metres off the floor. At mid-height, it would be 11 metres wide. The cargo space would be at least 60 metres long to fit 4 NATO F-35 aircraft. As a car carrier, it could carry them 4 wide, 4 high, and atleast 12 long - for about 200 vehicles whose maximum weight would be 320 tonnes including the vehicle racks. It could carry the main fuselage sections and wings of a 777X. We should expect to see a cargo plane of this size with perhaps 100 units produced for civilian and military applications. It would look rather like the AN-225 whose MTOW was 640 tonnes.

@@Slavkovic_Predrag probably not. While the Russian could have rebuilt it, they don't have the need for the An-225. But if, that a big if here, the Russian rebuilt it for the Ukrainian as a gesture of peace. But that highly unlikely.

I still remember when I visited her with my dad, it was the first moment that I'm inspired by this majestic plane (she is superb compared to 747 and 340 that I can see almost every day at that time). She inspires me to be an aerospace engineer, and it's what I'm studying now. Today, she has been destroyed, she can't fly anymore but she will always fly in my memory. God blesses Ukraine and Ukrainian. Farewell An-225 (1988-2022).

Mriya deserves a museum since it lost its flying function, it can be fixed with other non-aviation materials and become a statue. Russia or Ukriane need no Buran nor Energia parts and the plane itself is non-commerce beneficial.

9:17 you can see a hole on the hanger and wreck in front of the hanger, I assume this is created by an artillery shell from far away went through hanger roof, hit the an-225 and make the wreck fly out of hanger, since Russian troop there is only VDV infantry and has no artillery, the shell is from Ukraine who was bombing the VDV there to take back the airport, but whoever destroyed an-225, it's a huge lost for all mankind

In respect to the collaboration with HOTOL (technically HOTOL 2), I was speaking to some of the British engineers a few years ago. From what I remember, while they needed 8 Soviet engines, they also proposed swapping the 6 engines for more powerful Rolls Royce engines.

How about rebuilding her as європейська мрія, the European dream, with 6x Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Let's hope this war ends soon with the total collapse of the Russian economy. Ukraine has already applied for EU membership so let's get working on that 🙂 I hear that three Volga-Dnepr AN-124's are stuck in Leipzig because of the sanctions. Hopefully, those will go to Antonov Airlines as a start of reparations.

Ukrainian artillery which bombarded the Russian-held airfield has hit and destroyed the AN-225, as follows from photos. Russias took the airfield in air assault, and during it thr hangar was undamaged. So, maybe be angry at idiots in Ukrainian armed forces who can't aim, or didn't care. Also, it was Soviet space program, and Antonov was Soviet aircraft design bureau at the time, not Ukrainian. Same goes for all other design bureaus of Soviet era, regardless of location.
