I was so tempted by Missing Link Convoy but was really turned off by the price. I feel like this guy gets me 90% of the nostalgic experience I was looking for at a fraction of the price.

*Rambling Incoming* I didn't buy a lot from "United", since a lot of it left me feeling a little cold, like Vector Prime and Chromia specifically. This figure though. I was so excited for it, and it did not disappoint. I never REALLY liked the look of the "Missing Link" toy, and it wasn't until this figure was revealed to make me realize why; the proportions. The "ML" toy copies the original's proportions to a "T", and while that does work for a non-articulated "G1" toy, as I have the "Retro" Optimus that came out around the same time, it always looked odd when it has modern joints. It's not a total revamp, but the subtle thickening of the thighs and shortening of the forearms REALLY did for me. If it weren't for the guns being absolutely drenched in paint, especially the pegs, I would call it almost perfect. I'm not crazy about painted hands either, but I'll take what I can get, and I think I hate painted pegs more. Do I want more? I wouldn't say no to more "G1" toys with tweaked proportions, though I don't know how far that could really get, because, well, look at Hound.

While it is a bummer that some of the molded details aren't painted or stickered, I'm glad the budget for that went to stuff like the tires, since Toyhax doesn't make those.

After having this guy for a few months now, all I can say is that I hope that they do more G1 toy-inspired characters like Soundwave and Perceptor in the future to go with him.

Ohhh, they screwed up with "G1 Universe Soundwave" (it's a repaint of the Netflix WFC-T Soundwave), they REALLY screwed up with "G1 Universe Bumblebee" (it's a repaint of the Netflix WFC-T Bumblebee; not bad for those who missed that particular Earthrise Cliffjumper retool, but SS86-29 Bumblebee is a thing now), they screwed up with "G1 Universe Gears" (new face repaint of Legacy United Gears)...I think that Legacy United Sandstorm may be "G1 Universe", and that actually looks similar to the G1 toy (but not exactly). I'm not holding my breath for further proper Missinglink but Cheap peeps.

I love the fact that he’s smaller. Since I’ve been doing a multiverse of primes since seige started, and him being smaller helps differentiate him from earthrise prime.

Other than the fists. It's hard not to like this guy if you weren't quite on board with missing link. I don't mind the squat design as it was something that both happened, and passively implied in G1 design. 9:08 Look at that dude. The long arms, the tiny thighs; he might've been big but he was also kinda squat.

I have Missing Link Convoy but I picked this figure up on a whim and actually like it more than I thought I would, lol. It's such a great desk toy. Yeah, it won't scale into my collection but on its own it's actually quite good.

This toy is so good! The Earthrise trailer just makes him the whole package. I really wish we could get a Soundwave or a (VERY UNLIKELY) Megatron to pair with him.

So for those keeping score this year has seen SS86 OP, Gamer Edition OP, Devastation OP, Animated OP, TF1 OP, remnants of ROTB OP (Mainline and SS) and now a G1 throwback. 8 Primes in 1 year! That is mental. And I know there must be a couple of Primes like the Blokees I'm forgetting. Remember that retrospective music video and we have one scene of all the Autobot leaders, most of it awash in reds and blues with the occasional Bumblebee or Optimus Primal breaking the sea of OP. And then you have all the Decepticon Leaders are far more respectable portrait of Megatrons, Galvatrons, Shockwaves and Soundwave. That's what I get here.

Surprisingly, this is also compatible with the G1/Missing Link trailer, the better grey box with wheels. ....It's almost like Hasbro wants me to buy this to put alongside my Missing Link Prime. Such dastardly move!

Having never had the original Prime, I was very happy to grab this one. ^^ The joints on my copy that split the forearms apart are *scarily* tight, though, but thankfully not SS-Commander-Prime-head-base tight! Also lol-ing at the photo at 9:26 because I did a thing like that with my LUDGOP and Commander OP and threw it in the viscord XD

Fantastic review Vangelus!!! One of the ion blasters that came with my copy of this figure has a layer of black paint that makes the handle thicker then 5mm, so Optimus Prime not only can't hold it, but it cannot peg into 5mm ports. (sigh) At lease one blaster can be held by Optimus Prime. lol Keep on being amazing.

Too soon to tell. But there seems to be issues with Legacy Beachcomber's rubber tires affecting his plastic. So... It's possible the rubber tires on Prime will be an issue in the future.

Not sure so far, but a thing to check over time would be if they appear to be 'sweating', that means you should wipe them down with a paper towel to soak off the excess plasticizer
