Because development isn't that simple. They were probably satisfied with the product at release, until gamers got their hands on it and discovered all the issues. We should feel at least somewhat lucky that devs can respond to criticism like this. Before the Internet, we had to accept games that were poorly developed. Gamers tend to forget this.

I couldn't get into this game. The prospect of constantly walking around with your lamp to see if there's any items or secrets in the area just destroyed the momentum. I'd love to be convinced to try again, but I couldn't get past that. It felt like work, not natural exploration.

You don't need to constantly walk around checking with your lamp. There are hints when you should use: * Butterflies/Moths * Vibrating controller * Foliage at the end of edges * Blue life bar on enemy * Water * Blocked paths * Voices * Killing a boss ...and just if you want to peak into the other world or explore it.

Less trash mobs, more checkpoints, let me pause the game in a full offline mode. Also, don’t force me to grind for basic materials or healing items. It makes the game “easier” in all the right ways. Every souls-like should do this by default. I’m glad Lords is listening to their audience.

Idk how the game was like at release with all the mixed reviews but so far I’m having a blast. As a soulsborne fan, this is one of the closest to a soulsborne game. The gameplay, enemies, scenery, and the overall vibes remind me of darks souls and bloodborne mixed together. Clutch that this is on the game pass or I wouldn’t even consider it at all.

This game is amazing. I've played and beat all of the dark souls' games and this is one of my favorites. I was really surprised by the backlash. They did a great job. I got DS1 vibes but with a modern feel. Please keep making souls games. This one gives me a lot of hope for the future of the devs.

Bought it for 20 bucks right after 1,5 update. So far i like it, the combat is not as sharp as Elden Ring, but thats something you need to get feel for. Then its super fun, the whole design of the game is top notch, especially bosses, armor and weapons.

Bought the game at launch and after 3 playthroughs i think its a great game and definitely worth your time, yea its a souls like genre but has enough to differentiate itself. For those who want to give it a try, dont enter the game with a darksouls cmparison mentality. Its not a perfect game but a fun game.

Sorry bro...I played and finished game a few times before all the patches..loved it...performance not an issue on ps5. Now, having picked it up again with 1.5 i have a ton of lag, stuttering, enemies getting stuck in walls etc. The randomized loot is cool but also applies to the saintly quintessence...so after multiple updates these devs still cznt figure out how fix their performance issues, and have made it worse I'll take a hard pass

This game had a rough start but they have fixed most of the issues the game is still difficult but in a good way. People want a game to be perfect out of the get go ive been playing games for 15 years and I have not found the first day release perfect game. You wanted armor you got it you wanted spells you got it you wanted better multiplayer you got that I could understand if this was a triple A title like cod or the souls series or a valve game. Unfortunately, you don't get a second chance at a first impression. The damage has been done and even after the dust has settled... people will not be returning to this title. While I enjoyed my time with this game, traversal stutters and hitching (as a result of Unreal Engine), simply cannot be patched out and ruin an otherwise unique experience. These issues are inherently a part of Unreal Engine, even beyond version 5.4+.

Now youve mentioned the pros... heres the cons. Lack of diversity in encounters, its just melee backed up by rangers in every encounter. Early and mid game bosses are extremly tanky and you feel like your dealing no damage. You unlock the smith near the second major boss so not ugrading for hours. Ememys scale (still trying to work this out, it says in the patch notes ememys now scale but I'm unsure as to what, the players level? The players weapon?which wepaon highest leveled? Lowest leveled? Do they scale to the area?? (No i tested this i have a level 160 and teleported back to the start i cannot 1 shot anything) It seems to be scaled to the player level but needs further investigation. The lantern mechanics are tediously boring and the umbral world is overbearing. Your forced to solve Soul Reaver esc puzzles in atime window where the longer you take the more and harder ememys spawn, if you cant solve them or traverse the maze of these maps fast enough then your futher punished by a spaning boss that never truly dies even if you beat it..... oh and you health is cut in half.... and theirs a poison part of the game (think like blight town from DS1) which lrevents you from geting withered health back. (Grey health) exaple: you use the lanteen to go onto ubral world... your health is cut by 50% leaving you with wotheed health you can land attacks to turn witherd health to normal red health.... but poison constantly ticks damage and any damge removes ALL withered health. Terible design. Baring all of that the game had some unique mechanics like the soul rip ability with the lantern and such. All theyed need to really do to make the game better is to remove ememy scaling and that would fix alot of issues a lot of new players and vets have foe this game, the next (assuming they'll be a lotf 3) they would have to etheir reqork the umbral BS world and wither and remove ememy scaling.... and of couse more diverse encouters!! All that being said check tbe game out its still good its just got some major flaws, but its doing alot better then release i can say that much.

this game got WAY more hate than it deserved. Is it derivative? yes, but it wears it on its sleeve. It's not trying to be something that it isn't. It wants to be its own spin on a Dark Souls game, and at that it absolutely succeeds. thats not even to mention that the multiplayer is easily better than anything From has in their games. DGMW, there's a reason for that: where From games have multiplayer mostly as a concession, LotF fully embraces it in their game. It does make it so that LotF can be much easier than soulslikes, but it also feels less like an afterthought.

Nope. The devs are on my blacklist when ut comes to studios. I will never again buy anything or play anything they release. The game is still in a ridiculous state on consoles and months ago they said they're working on the next one. No. It's still a poorly designed and somehow clunkier Dark Souls 2 clone. If you want to play a good soulslike with an original twist on the premise and excellent level and boss design, then play Lies of P.

I find Lies of P combat more enjoyable since fable arts, throwables, and arm mechanism are just as effective as attacking with our weapon. I played this game for two days, yet it drags everytime I fight the mobs and boss.

This game is astonishingly bad. Horrible designed bosses, the frame rate and lag is terribly bad, terrible designed areas and the adds in this game especially in the snow area are stupidly bad. The one plus to this game is the looks, game looks incredible just really bad implementation when it comes to gameplay. 3/10
