Sharing a few days in my life as a legal assistant. Even though it was filled with many breakdowns and lots of crying (lol), I do feel stronger coming out of this experience and learned a lot. Don’t underestimate yourself just because something is a new challenge.

Where are you from? I was born in Manila, Philippines, but came to the US with my mom when I was 2 and raised in Orange County, CA. Now I currently reside in San Diego, CA with my boyfriend.

Where did you go for college? Cal State San Marcos
What did you study in college? BA in Political Science with a minor in Literature & Writing
What’s your job? Legal assistant at an employment law firm
What’s your birthday and sign? 07/22/2000; Cancer through and through :)
Favorite music artist? Easy, Taylor Swift.
Favorite food? Anything Italian or Mexican (I love me some carbs).
Favorite TV show? There’s too many and I tend to change my mind depending on my mood haha. Some of my favorites are Stranger Things, This is Us, Supernatural, The Bold Type, and Selling Sunset.

I started a paralegal job a couple of months ago and I’ve been following along your videos and literally SAME. Imposter syndrome and so many insecurities have come up so quickly. I feel like I have to know everything and keep up with everyone. It’s so frustrating to feel like I’m not capable. I have to keep reminding myself that I just got here, it’s gonna take time. Thank you for being so open and honest in your journey it’s helpful to know there’s other people going through the same thing.

I really love your work videos. Im waiting on an interview to be a legal admin and I really appreciate you being so real about the ups and downs of work life. thank you!!❤🥹 it was rough at first LOL, but we got through haha and I learned a lot! I do think it helped me realize that I am more capable than I think, but self doubt can really get the best of us from time to time.

I love how this vlog was very work focused. Are you able to explain more into depth exactly what you do? What are your favorite aspects of the job? What are your least favorite? Do you see yourself doing this long term? And would you recommend this career to anyone looking into it?

Hi Samari, thank you! I help with case initiation and trial prep mostly now. In this video, I was in onboarding so I would assist with getting all the documentation from new clients. I would say favorite aspects are that it’s both fulfilling and challenging at the same time. It can get stressful, but I think any job has its highs/ lows so it’s about managing that. If you’re interested, I would say try it out - nothing beats getting your own hands on experience and seeing if it’s right for you :-) I also have a ton of other videos on this in my legal assistant playlist where I touch in detail about your questions 😊

Hey icie, Please can you explains difference between Legal Assistant and Legal Administration JOB?

It depends, the terms are used simultaneously. In other firms it means the same because it’s administrative in nature . Then in other firms legal assistants are paralegals because they are more involved with the law side of the work. Whereas with administrative work it may include speaking to clients to get initial information needed for a claim , generating letters , responding to emails , arranging medical appointments if you are in personal injury field, actioning tasks on case management system etc.

I think it depends on the type of law and the law firm, but yes, for the most part, I would say being a legal assistant is similar to being a paralegal (without the certification and probably a little less compensation depending on the company). A legal admin job I imagine would probably focus more on general administrative work while legal assistants have a more emphasis on legal aspects and more interaction with attorneys (that has been my experience). But I can see how both roles would overlap and have similarities. Great question!:)
