You have the Warners and the Callahans, who seem to see her as a commodity, you have the Emmetts, who listen to her, and then you have the Stromwells and Vivians, who take the time to get to know her and are better for it. Much of the movie is a fine exercise in character development for everyone.

One of the best feminist messages in a movie, because it’s not about women acting like men to succeed in a man’s world or denying their femininity but instead being themselves and succeeding through that.
@roseg22393 жыл бұрын
You do realise femininity is forced on women, right? Women don't naturally desire to dye our hair blonde, wear skirts and high heels. So when women reject the stereotypes that men expect us to conform to, we're not denying our femininity, we're breaking free of that silly gender role that you call femininity.

Such a good example of scene setting under credits: Interesting, totally brings the audience in and, if you'll notice, doesn't include any of the lead characters so it could be shot with non-speaking extras by a completely different unit at any time. Really nice job by the director/producers. Just a great example. Thanks for posting!
@paramanicireland81999 жыл бұрын
I agree, but admittedly I don't know much about film making. It is a good use of a shit song though, as the song in the background is almost as bad as Rebecca black's Friday. I'm not sure, but I think Esham, or maybe ICP made a remix of it, including lyrics about committing murders, as well as the life of a junkie. In this case, it is effective for setting the scene as it introduces the ridiculous theme of the movie. A while back, while slightly stoned, a guy I know watched the movie just to mock it, meaning it just doesn't appeal to idiots, so in a way it's like some of the best movies, it can be enjoyed in a number of levels.
@AlexisKasperavicius9 жыл бұрын
Paramanic Ireland From a commercial standpoint, both songs you mention and the movie itself were wildly successful. This is proven fact...at least financially. Applying your personal taste to poo-poo something this successful may show that you beat your own drum, but my original comment commended the producers for being able to select a song and opening that appealed on a mass scale. This is not an easy thing to achieve.
@paramanicireland81999 жыл бұрын
From a commercial standpoint, it was brilliant, but in the same way mainstream pop is among teenyboppers. I didn't mean to "poo poo" the song or film, or to beat my own drum, I was just saying that many people would think the song is "whimsical" as many people put it. While it is similar to 'Friday', it is admittedly a lot better. I was praising the producers/ director, etc. as they managed to make a film that was commercial, but with the right mindset, could be fun for the type of person who would not appreciate that type of film, to treat as satire, of; the legal profession, the blonde stereotype, and the intelligence level of those who they enjoy the film, who they would regard as idiots.
@drpinky5049 жыл бұрын
***** In the commentary they said the scene where we see Elle brushing her hair from the back wasn't even Reese Witherspoon. Since you don't see her face they were able to use a different girl for that part.
