Hello, I have never Played D&D, but I'm interested. The red box starter set looks a little too cheaply made, but I'm interested in a good quality, basic D&D game. Any suggestions for a newby??? Thanks!

yes, they also have elaborate game mats with different caves and forests, and temples and towns, ice covered mountains, they can all be combined for a huge playing field...if your table is big enough

Don't ruin yourself by starting with 4th edition. Play an older edition. WotC just reprinted the rulebooks for both AD&D and 3.5e. I currently play AD&D, and I love it a lot, but you might like 3.5e. I have heard, however, that 3.5e is a lot more rule-heavy.

I bought this game because I was looking for the original HERO QUEST, but to my dismay its not being made anymore. I bought this and played it with my five year old daughter, and we had a blast!! I love the way its set up, and you could EASILY use the pieces in a standard roleplaying game if you want to. 5 out of 5
