Best arrangement I've heard for this one! Best mana game ever. People who didn't like the story on this one didn't make the effort to think of the metaphors presented and how they translate to reality in such important ways

I love this arrangement. You are a master of the hammer and 5 pound weight. Your synth sounds always get me! They are so beautiful. This song made me think I was running through a forrest outrunning those blob slime things. Fantastic job, as always! Can't wait to hear what's next from you!

Thank you for watching :). A lot of synthesists dislike video game music, but I've found that there is a lot of good VGM out there. In fact, a lot of the composers are great synthesists and musicians. After all, a lot of them were inspired by 70's synth driven music and basically created a new (and very eclectic) genre of music.

Watching your covers reminds me of watching the behind the scenes from Lord of the Rings, where it turns out the ferocious growl was actually the guy's pet turtle burping or something. I generally listen to it without video first, then watch the video to find out, "what made that clang-y sound?" "Oh, it was just a jar of paper clips being dropped from a 12 story building by a canary... noted."

zaglamir Thanks for the interesting comment!! I'm glad you like the various sounds in my videos :). I'm really into foley and sound design in general. Those behind the scenes portions of DVDs are always most interesting :D

Thank you for checking this out! LoM was unexpected after having played Secret of Mana. I loved the art style and music a lot though. I remember the instruction manual having a distinct (good) smell when I bought it new! I really enjoyed the atmosphere that the game created. Have you ever played it two player? I remember it being fun!

This is beautiful, as always. I really like the sound you're using on that stage piano, among all the other fun sounds in this cover! I'm a big fan of your artistic style in your music & videos. Great job!
@StevenMorris9 жыл бұрын
michelleheafy Thanks Michelle! The stage piano is a Rhodes electric piano, so it's the real deal :). I tried to get a marimba/steel drum like sound by processing it through voltage controlled envelopes and some other more esoteric synth modules for the melodic runs. The 'solo' at the end is it being processed through a spring reverb and an analog delay :D Thanks again for all of your kind comments!

This is excellent, shame it doesn't have more views based probably on game popularity. you can feel the care and time that went into this one though. Love it. Thanks so much for these videos. though I feel the synth at the end was a bit unnecessary, you could do anything you want on that rhodes and it'll sound like heavenly butter. I can't believe it's not butter.
@StevenMorris9 жыл бұрын
+partybarge I'm happy you liked this one! This song actually provided a ton of different challenges that I originally didn't see coming. I actually agree with you about the ending, too. I was planning to have the rhodes do the solo during the fade out, but then thought it didn't sound natural fading out that early after listening to it the next morning so I decided to just add that synth at the end to finish it up. Maybe more rhodes would've equated to more views ;P

+partybarge On second thought- I just noticed that a new Legend of Mana album was recently released by SE with a version of To the Sea on it-- it's an arranged version and puts mine to shame -_-

+Steven Morris I just got it in the mail the other day along with the new Millennial Fair Chrono Cross/Trigger album. It's excellent! Great jazz and bossa arrangements. Don't sell yourself short though! I like both equally for different sound signatures and instrument choices. your productions are of no lesser quality at all.

Not bad, but I personally think the wind instrument was a bit piercing. Overall though, not bad.
@StevenMorris8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Actually, I used quite a bit of EQ to remove most of the pier in qualities of that sopranino recorder-- you should hear how that thing sounds in person! (Or not, it'd probably give you a headache :( )

Steven Morris XD I would have to listen to it in person first to judge accurately.
