NotePerformer is an artificial intelligence-based audio engine that works with Sibelius in producing audio playback. Unlike other sample libraries, the AI makes playback sound more life-like as if one is asking musicians to play with specific markings on the score. There is, as is expected with technology,, no true soul which renders NotePerformer incapable of performing the more beautiful, lyrical classical pieces.

Hey everyone - I am wrapping up my work of music from the 1999 game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with this mix in MIDI of the theme to Kakariko Village, my favorite place to be in the game. I might come back later on to work on the end credits music for the game when I get to further streamline the workflow with my new Yamaha keyboard. Kakariko Village is almost like a rural town with a peaceful aura - one of the first things one had to do when stopping by Kakariko Village was to help an owner recover all her chickens scattered throughout the town. There’s a video of this up on KZbin, it’s pretty funny. There are two versions of the Kakariko Village theme in the game from when Link was a kid and when Link was an adult 7 years later. The one I did here is a mixture of the two, the guitar portion from when Link was a kid and the rest (oboe, ocarina, glockenspiel) from when Link was an adult. While I mostly use NotePerformer sounds from my Sibelius 7 composition software, I actually used my Logic Pro built-in sounds with the guitar here because I felt it was very accurately sampled with the sound. As with my recent projects, all notes played are initially recorded (sequenced) using my Yamaha keyboard. For the sake of this keyboard visualization, I moved the glockenspiel part up an octave from where they are supposed to be as it doubles the ocarina. The keyboard visualization shown in this video utilizes three different colors of tunic that Link wears throughout the game: green, red, and blue. Green is the default color that Link wears from his home place Kokiri Forest. Link obtains the red tunic over the course of the game after helping out the Gorons at Death Mountain, and the blue tunic after helping King Zora in the Zora’s [water] Domain. For my next project, I will be re-visiting the Prelude theme to the Final Fantasy series. I previously worked on this music last year but am curious to see how recording (sequencing) the whole thing from via the keyboard would turn out. It will be a next step for my keyboard projects as the music gets more and more complicated (in a good way). Hope you all enjoy this and stay safe!
