Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD - Horseback Battle with Ganondorf

Outside the castle, Ganondorf appears on horseback. He crushes Midna's crown in his hand, imposing that he defeated her back in the castle. Zelda calls upon the power of the light spirits and acquires the Light Arrows, which can be used to defeat Ganondorf. Link and Zelda ride Epona into battle, and she will assist you in this fight.
This fight is ANNOYING. I'm not sure if I'm just doing it wrong, but I always get hit while trying to avoid his initial attacks, and end up falling off my horse like 20 times before the end of the fight. Basically, you have to circle around him (so that you're chasing him) and stay close enough that Zelda can fire off her light arrows. Once she successfully hits him with an arrow, you can charge up a spin attack and charge right up to him for damage. When you successfully hit him, you can slow down a bit to get behind him while he recovers, and have Zelda shoot him again. Ganondorf can summon waves of phantom riders behind him that can sometimes be difficult to dodge, and sometimes it's just inevitable that you're going to get hit. The hard part, though, is actually getting behind him. When you get on the horse, he will stand directly in front of you and charge straight into you, which you must dodge and then circle around to get behind him; this can be really difficult due to the physics of the horse riding in this game, as turning around is really stiff, and he always seems to be able to hit me before I'm able to get behind him. Regardless...
Once you hit him a few times, he will fall off his horse. The final battle is next.

Those people focus far too much on the similarities to OOT and the tears of light sections. If you look at this game as a whole, it has some of the best music, cinematics (both interactive and view only), dungeon and world design, bosses, and BY FAR the best design for the Princess (in my personal opinion)

I first discovered the zelda franchise through smash brawl and twilight princess. Botw remains my favorite game and versions of the characters, right next to skyward sword, but i like the dynamic of link and zelda. Tho I do appreciate Link being of a little more importance outside of the Hero in botw. In botw, he was already an established and revered knight WHO TF NAMED HIM PHILLIP 🤣

Her and Link have been through so much this game. Link was just a farmhand with a huge destiny he didn't choose thrust upon him so suddenly, and she has had to sacrifice herself multiple times for the sake of her people as well as the people of twilight. Having to ask Link one last tume for his power is bound to make someone in this situation misty-eyed. I fucking love this game

I've played through the final boss battle on the Wii version at least a dozen times over (Twilight Princess is my favorite game) and I can very honestly say that while it is sometimes a tiny bit annoying in the Wii edition, the HD version is ASTRONOMICALLY more aggravating. I usually don't have much problem with this phase on the Wii, but I cannot for the fucking life of me figure out how to get Ganondorf to let me line up a shot in the Wii U version. The one time I beat the HD version it took me about 30 minutes of extreme frustration and I somehow finally beat him by sheer dumb luck and I have NO idea how I fucking did it. Wii version I very much enjoy booting up my endgame save file and playing through the final boss battles and this section is a breeze to get through in a few minutes. Wii U version I tried going through the final boss battles once more after beating the game the first time and I had the exact same issues. I dunno WHAT THE FUCK the development changed, but I think mainly Ganondorf is FAR more aggressive (he rushes at me and knocks me off my horse WAAAAAY more often in the HD version than the Wii version), and on top of that, Epona controls like sheer, utter ASS in the HD version (which is so annoying that the HD version came out nine whole years later and yet controlling the dumbass horse SOMEHOW feels significantly WORSE)

I once managed to get close enough to him before Zelda hit him with arrow, and found out that you can't actually hurt him before Zelda softens him up with a light arrow.

That makes sense. In OOT you can't go in to slice him up until you've shot a light arrow at him yourself, and in WW Zelda needs to hit him with one before you can get in close.

@@poseidonrox95 Also in AttP you can't beat without the Silver Arrows. Actually the Master Sword on its own never seems to stop him. You don't need it to defeat him BoT but you still need the Light Arrows and its Zelda who finishes him off.

This is where I'm currently at. I have put 90 some odd hours in this epic game,and this stupid,annoying,Just plain DUMB battle on horseback has just about got me to the point where I am gonna say forget it,swallow my pride,and just watch the ending on here(you tube).
